Anything by Mercedes Lackey but her 500 kingdom books in particular are great melds of fairy tales around the world. I loved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, one of my favorite books ever. So rich in details! I also loved Uprooted by Naomi Novick. It's an old school fantasy set in another realm, low levels of tech etc, but avoids feeling like its referencing Tolkien.

Hi everyone! I made the group so we could have a place to talk about books without getting lost in facebook threads. However I don't really have any specific goals in mind as far as format goes. My general idea is that people can add books they like to the bookshelf, and everyone can just read whatever they want at their own pace. Any time someone feels like discussing one, they can make a new thread or folder or whatever, and people who read it can join in. If someone wants to do something more formal with the group, feel free to speak up!
