I hate the mindset that dehumanizes people. The folks in town don't have a problem with all the things they're saying about Stacey because they no longer see her as a person. She's just this thing. It makes me very sad. I see it in real life too and it always breaks my heart.

No worries, Emily! Not every book is for every reader. I can tell you that this won't be a 5 star book for me either, though I'm invested enough to want to finish it.
And, yeah, let's hope you're not moving into a reading slump! That would be awful! Especially now when it's cold and perfect weather for snuggling up and reading. <3

YES! I cannot get over how everyone is twisting this to make Stacey out to be the bad guy. I mean, I get that sometimes people accuse without anything actually happening, but the whole town automatically assumes that because Stacey is from the wrong side of the tracks and Dooney is a popular, rich, basketball player, that she's obviously trying to ruin his future. No way, that is not the way to look at this. Even if she did make it all up, then she need help, not threats.

I'm enjoying the "budding romance" and witty banter between Kat..."

Yeah, I'm feeling like there's some way Ben is involved with whatever bad thing happened, but he's not telling anyone about it yet. I just feel, though, that he's not completely innocent.

Yes. I want that job. I want to be paid handsomely for reading and knitting.

Hahah! I don't have a job and I still don't have enough time to read. :o) (Though, keeping my kids alive and doing my homework does definitely cut into my reading time....)

194300 Finished chapter 8 last night, and I have to agree with Debbie. It looks like whatever happened will be revealed pretty soon. I had half expected this to start out with doom and gloom, like with Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, but it starts out just like your average YA romance novel.

Hey, AJ, I would recommend any Neil Gaiman book, especially the ones he narrates himself. They make for great audiobook listening. :o)

194300 Hi guys! I'm Cristi and I'm in the US. Like Paula, I've always loved to read and always will. I normally have four books going at a time, an audiobook that I listen to in the car with my daughters, an audiobook I listen to on my own, a middle grade book that I read to my girls each night, and my own personal book. Though, it seems like no matter how much I get read, my TBR never seems to get any shorter! I blame Goodreads and Booktube.
And, speaking of Booktube, I have a channel (What Cristi's Reading) that I started so that I would have people that I could chat with about books. This group is adding more great readers that I can chat with! Woohoo!
