I enjoyed the movie but felt that the audience got ripped off. They tried to fit it all in to such a short time. Had the Eragon series been put into films much like The Lord of the Rings had, I feel the success would have been huge. I think they weren't sure how people would react to the film and in doubting themselves they didn't pool enough resourses or experience int the creation of the film. Having said that though, I adored the portrayal of the dragon. Saphira was very realistic as an animation.

I feel it was an obvious name but well suited as that word in the ancient language had a lot of meaning to Eragon. It was one of the first words Brom had taught him and the first word he used in battle against that group of Urgals. I like the name. Though what I do find a little cheesy is the way the sword lights up with flame.

In my opinion they would need a different director and producer than the the movie Eragon. I have seen many books made into movies and that was probably the worst. It would be nice if they tried to do it differently but I think that it would also confuse many non-readers. The plot was not clear in the first movie, hence it would be hard to follow the plot of Eldest.

I don't really know what to say because I love both Lord of the Rings and the Inheritance Series. However, having said that I have never once compared them because the plot is quite different, as well as the way they write. Paolini as you watch his style it changes from book to book. Personally I enjoyed Eragon the most, because Paolini wasn't trying to focus on telling the story from the perspective of other characters. I felt that it was too many characters. It should have stayed simply with Roran and Eragon, and by extension Saphira.
