No they were boarding the boat. I'm currently re-reading the first book. Prepping for November. Lol
I don't think the "smaller person" lol is Roran's child. I don't think we'll be going that far into the future in the last book for it to be that old. I have three thoughts on who it could be.
First is Orik. He for some reason gives up his kingdom and leaves with Eragon and Arya. Maybe because of dwarf pride and wanting the dwarf race to continue on in distant lands. He was always one of the more open-minded of his race.
The second is Elva. Maybe she gets tired of being in Alagaesia or some other random reason, but I see her leaving with them being possible.
The third is the daughter of Bladesinger(if I remember correctly). I think she will have some integral role in the 4th book. I would have liked her to be the third rider but various circumstances, that isn't very likely.
And I also have no doubt in my mind that Eragon and Arya will end up together.

Inheritance (book 4) ending. Although it sounds cheesy it is probably how it will end because of Paolini's romantic idealism. Eragon and Arya arm in arm boarding the boat with an unknown third party (either a child or a dwarf because person is shorter than the other two). Saphira and the green dragon (Arya's dragon) are flying overhead while Murtagh is left alone on the shore screaming in agony because Thorn is dead and his brother Eragon is leaving him behind.
My other thought for the person left behind is Roran with Katrina and his child dead. I do find this ending a bit too dreary for CP.
I would like the person screaming on the shore to be Galbatorix. Being defeated by Eragon and Eragon not wanting to deal the final blow, he is left somewhere with an enchantment of sorts similar to Sloan. Possibly with some sort of way out if he was to ever change or something but much more strict. Probably not though.

If I remember correctly Galbatorix actually evoked a spell that would kill anyone who spoke his true name. So that even if someone stumbled upon hi true name they would just drop dead. I also remember one of the characters in the book saying that may be a few few people who have known and do know Galbatorix true name, but it wont do any good. I believe it was Oromis.

pretty sure its arya. i dont think it would be roran because he would never be away from katrina or the baby and immortality would ensure that. only he could become the the 3rd rider is if katrina and the baby are the characters who die.

i agree 1000% with Angela being one of the Grey Folk. with her lack of ability to use magic, (i remember her saying she couldn't work the most simplest of magics. could be wrong) doesn't age, mysterious past, she knows everything about everything.

why does everyone keep bringing up the same proven facts?
Yes a person's magic has its own color.

Well if the cover of the 4th book is going to be a green dragon, I cant think of a different dragon popping up other than the unhatched one.

Oh soo true. Nice green eggs. Lol

I think that Paolini is postponing the book just to screw with our heads

"A flash of emerald light briefly illuminated the forest, and the stone vanished." (Eragon, page 4)
"But Arya raised her palm, shouting, and an emerald ball of energy shot from her hand, killing the Urgal." (Eragon, page 485)
"On her back was Arya: hair billowing wildly, arm uplifted, palm glowing with a nimbus of green magic." (Eragon, page 490)
Christopher Paolini, himself, also said that the last dragon would be green, or at least the cover art for the final book would be a green dragon. That is why every one assumes Arya will be the next dragon rider.
~♥Alyssa♥~ wrote: "... I don't think it matters. Magic doesn't really have a color. Once again, I think people are just assuming."I'm pretty sure that a rider's magic takes the color of his dragon. Think Brom told Eragon that in Book 1 when he asked why his brisngr flame was blue.

i dont think its worth the money. it's pretty cool but i just read it in the store. about a 10-15 read if you read fast.

Why were saphira's wings feathered? They're supposed to be blue and transparent, veiny, and leathery. I also think that Liv Tyler who played Arwen in Lord of the Rings would have made the perfect Arya. From the first time I read Arya's character, I always envisioned her.

eragon is fully human. his form right now is the complete form of a human rider. the elves magic just sped up the process.
