I enjoyed the book. It’s a journey/quest book that I usually like. I read it from more of a fantasy perspective. I don’t know if I would necessarily recommend it. I just took it as a work of fiction and didn’t read too much into it. It’s not explicitly labeled as New Age but there is are a lot of overlaps. It is definitely Spiritual. There are also some Christian themes too, albeit with a dose of Mysticism. I haven’t done any research into to see what Coelho was meaning with it all, I’m probably not interested enough to see. But I do enjoy others thoughts on it.

I’m a little late finishing. The book was good but the movie was much better. I didn’t think it really added much, but I did like the authors commentary. I was between three and four stars, but I ended up giving it four stars. Since I would have liked it better if I had not seen the movie first. I do feel a little duped though I finally learned that the original version it’s abridged from doesn’t exist lol.
