I too didn’t like the book ( I don’t like magical realism much) but rated it five stars because Marquez is a master story teller and he put a lot of effort in the book.

I read Catch 22 and Slaughterhouse-five, 1984, all are amazing and unforgettable books.

I am at 30% of this book and I like it. It’s challenging because of war theme and describes human psychology at war time, I just finished Demons by Dostoevsky, so I am mentally prepared for more unfathomable human psychology.
