He was too freaked out and didn't stop until she was solid stone.
That absolutely freaked him out and instinctively he grabbed her and began to turn her to stone, absorbing he lifeforce while keeping the blade away from him.
He turned to see some female rushing at him, looking furious. He began to back up a bit scared.
"H-How do you play?" He asked, not knowing how to play tag.
(Maybe make it look like he's commanding her to give him the puppy?)"May I hold the puppy?" He asked, but to anyone further off it would look like he was demanding the puppy how he was holding himself.
