Kirkus Review:
- "A suspenseful adventure in which two loners at a boys' school join forces to explore a fabulous underground archeological site that becomes both their refuge and their proving ground. Eighth-grader Barney Penniman has everything to look forward to, starting with one of the prestigious New England boarding schools after he graduates from equally prestigious Winchester. But when he interferes with five sadistic bullies who are stoning a collie, he not only makes five enemies but finds himself at odds with the new headmaster, who accepts a new swimming pool in lieu of expelling the culprits and threatens Barney with blacklisting if he doesn't leave the school before the bullies' revenge gets them all into trouble. But Barney is fascinated with the miniature world that his younger friend, Snowy, has discovered..."

- "Samantha is recovering from a complex concussion that not only obliterated her memory, but also wiped clean her personality. Despite this, disturbing, bloody images visit her after she is found alone and bruised in the wilderness, days after she and her best friend, Cassie, went missing. And she is sobered by what she learns about her past self. Teen readers will appreciate Samantha’s earnest attempts to redeem herself in the eyes of her brother and childhood friends, even as she is horrified to learn that she’s alienated them for years with her petty, cruel behavior. Particularly complicated is her relationship with Carson Ortiz, the son of the groundskeeper on her extremely wealthy parents’ estate..."

"Halloween Kids Book from the 70s?

In the early 90's I checked out a book from the local library and read it over and over again to my little boy who loved it. He has kids now, and I'd like to find it for them. I can't remember the title/author, but it was about Halloween and trick or treating. It wasn't a chapter book, more like a picture book. The kids were dressed up for trick or treating and at the end they had a party and ate Marzipan candy. I think it was from the 70's or 80's, but maybe earlier? Thank you for any help!"
