Thanks Rainbowheart.
185 Celeste is still looking for this book:

"1920s Mama’s boy brings wanton wife home to straight-laced Christian family

I’m trying to find this God-awful book I read as a young teen in the mid-1970s. Maybe published between 1960-1976? Maybe earlier.

The plot is about this syrupy-sweet American Christian family in the 1920s-1930s. The oldest son returns home (from college, I think) with a very modern wife. This woman utterly shocks the family with her wanton ways, such as wearing nail polish and dancing to jazz music.

There is a younger sister and a mother. I’m not sure about the rest of the family characters.

This book is probably out of print, but I’m wondering if it rings any bells with anyone."

185 Lotje, how much of the topic header is a spoiler (re: "Kidnapping a girl...")? We need to remove spoilers from the header and add a spoiler alert.

How far into the story do you learn her boyfriend set up the robbery? Is this a spoiler? (in which case, we'll remove it from the header)
