Before 1999, maybe around 1992.
None of them look like the book but definitely seem like the right arena. So I marked them to hunt for her books

Sadly I do not. I thought they were younger than a teenager.

I think this book around the 90s. As I recall someone discovers a bottle ( I thought it was a root beer bottle). When peering into the bottle they get transported to a world within it.
