184768 I just finished Percy Jackson The lightning thief and the entirety of the book had a lot to do with friends and family, and who it is that worth fighting for. Percy looses his mom in the beginning and throughout the book is with his friends who are each trying to help each other follow through on their quest. They each have to make important sacrifices for one another like deciding who was going to use a pearl to leave the underworld. The story has a great display of true friendship and love of family members.

184768 Percy Jackson knows he needs to take on this quest. All though he doesn't know if by doing so will get him killed. He doesn't even know if doing it would earn him respect. Would it be cowardly to not go? Or courageous to go? I think he needs to go so that if something bad happens at least he wasn't a coward and did nothing.

184768 In The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson was told by the Oracle that he will end up loosing what matters most to him. With this on his mind he is battling the fact that he wants to choose his own destiny and his path rather than having an oracle tell him what will end up happening.
