the theme hard work pays off is shown throughout the book in huge because he has been trying his hardest to find the person who painted the sign near where his grandma lives and he is very close to doing it.

The theme hard work pays off is shown when huge is the smallest person at the football tryout but he still makes the team because of the work that he put in.
