The hunger games fits this theme because the main characters are constantly being faced with adversity they need to overcoming. The games themselves are the main thing the characters are challenged with. Before the games they believe their is no chance for them to win and come out alive. However as the story goes on they gain some hope.

In the hunger games the theme of oppression is shown by the poverty in district 12. Also oppression is seen by the process of picking tributes for the games. This is the capitals way of oppressing the districts.

The theme of hard work pays off is shown by the doctor completing his checklists and saving his patient. He had to execute everything perfectly in order to save his patient. Everything he learned in medical school had to be used to save the patient.
