My book, Taken, shows a theme of isolation due to the fact the main character is abducted and confined in the back of a van disguised as an ambulance. She is isolated from everything, has been drugged, and is unaware of what has happened with no recolection of the previous events. The isolation causes her mind to wander, and she thinks of everything shes learned about abductions and cant figure out what to do. The combination of being in shock and drugged results in scattered thoughts.

Charlie relies on his friends to help overcome his social issues and depression. Charlie was previously depressed due to his aunt Hellen's passing, and he was able to become a happier person. His friends were three years older than him, so when they graduated Charlie fell back into depression and it emphasizes the impact family and friends had on him.

In my book, Charlie shows his beliefs and religious values through his connection with his aunt Helen. His aunt Helen passed away when he was six and they were very close to each other, although Charlie often gets sad about his aunt Helens passing and misses her, he is content because he knows she is in heaven. Charlie visits her grave a lot, in the past with his mom but now he can drive on his own so he goes by himself. When he visits her he talks to her about his life and things to make him happy and tries to show her he's okay with her being gone because he is in a better place and he will see her again some day.

In my book, Charlie is a quiet boy who has always had trouble in social situations and with making friends. Charlie is now a freshman in high school and is not accepted by most people in his school, so he just stays to himself. Charlie met a girl named Sam and her brother, Patrick. Patrick and Sam are very accepting of Charlie even though he is four years younger and socially awkward. Because of Sam and Patrick befriending Charlie, his confidence is much higher and he has started to open up more and do more things out of his comfort zone.
