50x66 The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt, and Strategy by Lawrence Freedman

50x66 Man, guys, just finished The Warmth of Other Suns. Definitely has its flaws, but it's a really beautiful book. Highly recommended. There were a lot of elements of Jim Crow that it described in ways I never understood before. I'm curious, what history books have radically changed your understanding of the world, in a way that you wouldn't have expected?

50x66 Yeah, I'm with Chris. Til We Have Faces drags in the beginning, but in totality I thought it was masterful and extremely nuanced understanding of love and our place before God. But to each his own!

50x66 I do like the creativity in Harry Potter, but I am continually annoyed by the bad writing. There's just so much fluff language.

I tried to read Twilight and it was so bad I couldn't make it through the first book.

But my all time least favorite is The Experience of God, by David Bentley Hart. It is some of the most arrogant, repetitive, ridiculous writing I have ever come across. His ideas are neither complex nor original, but he writes as though they are. And he is amazingly dismissive of fields of thought but does a terrible job "debunking" them. Just a bad, bad book.
