I like the bad guys, but when he tried to take advantage of Ruby in the first book, that was crossing the line for me. I do not tolerate a boy that would hurt a girl like that. He was kissing her and making her want it and GAH it made me want to punch his face in. So yes, I understand why people would hate him in the first and second books.
I do feel very sorry for the person he became.

I think a lot of the time he was just being selfish but I know he has a heart. He cared about Nico, I know it. I felt so bad for Nico in the last book.

I believe he's not all bad and probably had good intentions at some point. He's not a monster to me.

I don't know about you guys, but I didn't hate Clancy. I did in the first book, but by the end of the series I realized everything he had been through and I felt sorry for him. I didn't blame him at all for everything he did and the way he lashed out. He went through hell and back, would you expect him to come out of that anything other than what he was?
Most people hate Clancy no matter what, but I'm curious if anyone feels the same way I do. I have a soft spot when it comes to villains so it's to be expected that I sympathize with Clancy.

The novella is called Beyond the Night. All of the novellas are in one book called Through the Dark.

I liked how things didn't get completely solved by the end of the book and it leaves it open for more things to happen that the readers (sadly) will never know about. There is a novella that kind of continues where it left off at the end of In the Afterlight; I read it and it gave me so much closure so if you're feeling like something is missing you should definitely read it if you haven't already!
