To Charlie this kiss was big to him because it was his first.This was not just his first kiss with anybody but it was with Sam a girl he really cares for. Plus for her to do it because she cares for Charlie too is big for him. To us it may be small but for him it meant some dear to him.

A kiss to us could be to anybody or from anybody. Some people don't even like the person they receive or give a kiss to but Charlie it was different. He presumable "loves" Sam so that would mean a lot to a lot of people.
