174195 I absolutely loved each book I've read by Lindsey Kelk and this one doesn't disappoint. I find her humour, and witty characters are amazing. I will say that for the first half of the book, I disliked the main character, Maddie, as I found she was passive in her life, but I think that was the point of the book when I look back. The point was to see her evolve and become more assertive of her skills and what she wants. I do think she was forced into that situation and had to emerge as looking at things differently, but I think in all, it was a good story.

I read this book originally for a Popsugar challenge prompt, but found it fit with the #25, A book inspired by the wedding rhyme: 3 Something Borrowed
174195 - What are you reading for this category?
Always the Bridesmaid by Lindsey Kelk
I know I am early for this prompt, but I was actually reading it for the Popsugar challenge and thought it fit perfectly here as well.

- How does your book link to "something borrowed"?
I borrowed it from my sister. Bonus, it actually is about a wedding!
174195 Well it seems I am the first one to read this book on ATY. I used this book for the prompt #3, A book where the author's name contains A, T, and Y. This book was on my TBR as a light read. I enjoyed the premise, its humour, and the fast pace. I mean, there were things I thought were brushed over, such as (view spoiler)

I find the whole "Sleeping Beauty" is a bit far-fetched, more like a girl not living her life to the fullest. IMO
174195 I have just finished reading The Sleeping Beauty Proposal by Sarah Strohmeyer. I have not read anything else from this author before, but this book was on my TBR.

174195 One week after picking up The Nightingale, I am finished with the book. I will agree that it started slow, as previous comments stated, but I actually enjoyed the slow pace as it allowed me to savour this story and get to appreciate the characters. I think the pace was appropriate. It starts at a the beginning of WWII where things are starting to turn dangerous, so its slow, and as it gets worse, the pace follows the urgency we feel as readers when the characters are struggling more and more with their survival.

As for a mention about the French language interspersed in dialogue, I actually loved it. As I speak French, it felt natural to me to switch from English to French within the same sentence (something we call in Montreal, Franglais). I appreciate that Hannah wanted to make this feeling like a French story when it is written in English.
174195 What did you read for this category?
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

174195 This will be my first book for 2019. I am reading it for prompt #1: "A book that was nominated for or won an award in a genre you enjoy". I love reading historical fiction and it won the Audie Award in 2016. I already have it from the library, just waiting for January 1st to come around the corner.

174195 This is my first year participating in the ATY Challenge and I am very excited to start! I am also doing the Popsugar Challenge, and several books will count toward prompts in both. I am also planning on re-reading all the Harry Potter books in French. I was able to place them within this challenge, which makes it perfect!
