174195 want to ask about when he died??
Jun 10, 2019 10:38AM

174195 Narrow down the first or last name would work I believe! And once we finish the "discovered during the readathon", I only have the last chapter of Eleanor Oliphant to finish for the quirk holiday slot

174195 We still have 3 questions. Some ideas that were suggested:

“Did he die before/after (insert date here)?”
“Was he know for writing (insert genre here [fiction/children/poetry/thriller])?”
“Did he win (insert literary prize here)?”

Should we see if he has a book in the 1001 books to read before you die (or another list) to see if we can find a list to go through?

174195 I didn’t finish Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine in time for Bucket 5 (and it doesn’t fit for Bucket 6). But I can have it finished in time for Bucket 7’s “Quirky Holiday” prompt — July 11 is Cheer Up the Lonely Day

174195 Not George Orwell (surname starts with A-M)

Some other options are Samuel Beckett, Kingsley Amis, Anthony Burgess, Martin Amis.

174195 Birth date is good as well with me!

174195 want to see if the author is British and try to narrow down the location more??
Jun 09, 2019 03:48PM

174195 who wrote more than 10 novels

174195 So we have a deceased male European author who was born in the 1900s with a surname that begins with a letter from A-M
Jun 09, 2019 03:18PM

174195 I’ll make it official since there’s been a few people suggesting it 😊

Was he from Europe?”
Jun 09, 2019 03:14PM

Jun 09, 2019 03:09PM

174195 “Was he from Europe?” Or “Was he from Asia?”

“Does his surname begin with a letter from A-F?” Or “Does his surname begin with a letter from G-M?”

Someone can pick one from each — we have four questions I believe!
Jun 09, 2019 01:14PM

174195 I agree with further narrowing down the location.

174195 I just finished An American Marriage on my way to work (sorry, am on my phone so I cant link the book). it can be used for the nature slot

174195 I finished Sabrina which is for my ATY challenge and is a new-to-me author.

I believe we have one slot left for each of those so feel free to use it for either.

And I should finish An American Marriage this evening when I get off work which can be used for “A book related to nature” in the next bucket.

174195 I did the Synonyms & Antonyms game. I also added it to the spreadsheet.

I think we have 3 questions right now. Based on the comments I’m thinking it’s safe to bold this question.

”Does the author’s surname begin with a letter from A-M?”

Do we want to try and narrow the letter further after getting the answer to this question (if now, then it’s N-Z so we could ask if it’s between N-R or some other set).

Or do we want to go ahead and ask something else. Some ideas suggested are

“Has their work been adapted for film/tv/theatre?”
“Is their work considered to be classics?”
“Have they published X (insert number here) or more books?”
