I had picked up the salt book on a whim and found it to be totally fascinating. Who knew such a mundane topic could have such a wide and varied history, or that it was integral in making and breaking empires? The oyster book's scale was not as vast, but was interesting on its own merits as a slice of NYC history. I also have his paper book on my TBR list.
173974 I am a huge Tolkien fan, so I am currently re-reading The Lord of the Rings (probably for the 5th or 6th time), as well as his letters.

I also particularly enjoy historical non-fiction, and Mark Kurlansky writes on the most interesting topics--I have already read his books on salt and oysters. I am currently reading his book Cod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World

173974 I'm so excited to find this group! I'm a bit late to the Miss Marple challenge, but I am happy to join in!

My favorites ever since I was a kid are Doyle and Christie (although I have mainly read her Poirot books and actually havent read any Marple ones.) I have seen some Marple movies/tv series, but I know that doesn't count! I am looking forward to diving right in.
