"The House at Riverton" by Kate Morton. I recommend it. The story is well framed as told by a woman in her nineties who served as a maid during the WWI era. I was raised by..."Hi... I am so glad to hear that somebody else didn't like Gone Girl! I didn't like a single character in that book. I don't understand how this book got the reviews and hype that it did. Your description of 14 sounds interesting. I will look for that book. I just finished, THE DINNER by Herman Koch. I don't know how to describe whether I liked this book or not but I can't stop thinking about it.

Thanks for clearing up the mystery, I am sitting here writing this reply and laughing at my inability to realize that you were talking about a book title! I am usually not that dense...I promise. I think I would enjoy reading that book. Thanks...Best, Judy

Hello! I have just recently read two books. THE MAYTREES by Annie Dillard. YUCK! THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATOE PEEL PIE SOCIETY, I loved this little book and have bought five copies for friends for Christmas. I am on to
Edgar Sawtelle, next.

Thanks, I haven't read, BLOOD MERIDIAN, but will do so soon!! Judy

I feel the same way about this book. It was chosen by my book group and I had no interest in reading it even though I am a huge fan of McCarthy's. I read this in one sitting a year ago and I still think about it every week. The conversations between the father and his small son were heartbreaking and so sweet at the same time.
