✧Death comes Knocking✧
Damien was seventeen when his younger brother Salem Axel Devereux was born. At this point, Damien already unlocked nearly all of his abilities before even going through Ascension. However, his prodigal power gain raised concern and suspicion in both his parents and the High Priestess. Damien had already murdered and no one knew. Sure many suspected something was up, but no one would have believed someone so charming with such a strong head on his shoulders would be capable of murder. Damien never allowed the High Priestess, Seer, or anyone else with the power to discover his actions too near him. However, just before his Ascension Acacia Devereux gave birth to a little girl, Erin Serenity Devereux. Damien feared his mother might acquire a new power that could give her sight into his actions of murder having already given birth to two magical sons and a daughter. He feared so much magical blood passing through her would allow her to gain the gift of Sight which has always been known to be gained through large amounts of emotional and physical trauma.
Upon the day of his Ascension an hour before the rite took place and he was to possess new knowledge and ability to acquire power Damien performed a dark ritual using blood magic, the most powerful form of magic and the most binding, to release his parents from their vow and unlock their powers fully once more. Naturally, they would sense it, but they would only bring it up to the High Priestess after the Coven ceremony of which "the Power" comes upon Damien. His parents has been invited to the Ascension ceremony as the High Priestess felt any proud parent would want to share such an occasion with their child. Unfortunately, Derrick and Acacia Devereux did not make it to the circle. In fact, not even damien was able to attend his own ceremony as he ascended before he could make it in time. Damien Ascended through the blood of Acacia and Derrick Devereux. He absorbed all of their soul energy and unlocked all of his abilities almost entirely. Such an amount of power overwhelmed his body rendering him unconscious with only his few month old sister and one year old brother as witnesses to the crime. Damien became a Wraith. He was awoken by the sound of crying from his siblings. the car had wrecked into a tree on the side of a bank. He was quick to cover his act up with dark magic before the coven came looking for them. Damien's parents were given a proper funeral and their deaths covered up by the Coven to steer clear of suspicious mortals as Damien informed them that they were attacked by a group of Wraiths.
Damien had graduated from high school the following year and the coven aided him in caring for his younger siblings. He was out of sight of any accusations after informing the Coven of the Wraiths the Coven had set a law that all wraiths were to be killed on sight without questioning. The only one still suspicious of poor Damien was the High Priestess. With the death's of his parents covered up as a simple car crash as they were clearly murdered before the crash the mortals had lost interest in their deaths, but the Coven's investigation did not stop. For the Coven the Wraith's made it personal attacking one of their own even if Damien's parents weren't in the Coven he was and that meant the coven held protection for his entire family and vengeance.


✧Curiosity Killed the Cat✧
After a series of investigation and tracking the whereabouts of local Wraiths the High Priestess came to the conclusion, through the help of spells and rituals, that it was not Wraith's, but a Wraith who had murdered Damien's parents and it was damien who did so. No one would ever believe her and she was quite aware even as the High Priestess her High Priest and the Elder's would all over look her feeling sorry for the innocent young man. Damien came to his own realization of the High Priestess knowing what he had done. He knew of her suspicions of him and he knew she had to be disposed of.
Damien managed a job at a run down bar as a bartender. He kept care of Salem and Erin and kept covering his trail as murder became an addiction to him. With more and more coven Witches dying or disappearing altogether the Coven went into desperate measures. Within the year more strict laws and harsher punishments were distributed and carried out. The Coven gave rise to more Guardians and attention began to be aroused to the mortals.
As most mortals are blind to the existence of Witches they still began to notice the many disappearances and death toll rising. In such a small town naturally eyebrows began to raise as accusations were pointed and rumors spread like wildfire between the gossipy church ladies. "That Devereux boy is hardly able to care for himself much less two children with a cheap job at bartending." "I heard the father was a drunk and was the one driving when they crashed." "The mother probably wasn't much better. Even if the boy must raise his brother and sister at least they won't be raised by such horrible influences." "I hardly ever saw'em in church when they were alive. Their poor souls have been damned the least we could do is make sure those kids don't end up the same way." "A town should stick together like a family. We have to care for our children because Lord knows that boy can't do it all on his own." "We should cook for them. We'll have a big potluck and get everyone from church to pitch in." "Lord knows them poor babies aren't eatin' right with only their brother able to work and care for 'em."
Damien was smart, though, he planned his own life out and that of his siblings long ebfore killing their parents. The Devereux's may have seemed poor, but Acacia was always quite wealthy from the death of her own parents. What Damien did not plan for was getting caught by anyone. He had only killed to keep them off of his own tracks, but that was a precautionary kill. Not once did he think anyone would ever catch him in the act with the Coven covering the deaths up as best as possible so not to raise suspicion.
He and his siblings were assigned a Guardian to help care with Salem and Erin while he worked. But one day he managed to get off early and was going to take his siblings at a park. Before he reached home Salem was a wild runner. he didn't learn to walk, he learned to run. Once the kid learned to walk there was no secret safe and nothing could be hidden. Salem hid in his brothers room where the Guardian found the child playing with dark relics only used in horrible unforgivable magic use. The Guardian tried to act quickly and grab Salem and Erin to run, but Damien was in the doorway. He made her put down his brother and sister and drew all of the blood out of her body. He gave her no warning and no chance to defend herself. He simply and easily killed the poor girl.

✧The Seven Trials of Hecate✧
When the Coven investigated, the High Priestess knew almost instantly that no normal Wraith committed the act of murder and left witnesses no matter how young. There were spells that could acquire forgotten memories as the children were too young to remember what they saw and could not relay it back to an adult. Damien's excuse was that the Guardian died ebfore he got home and he found her lifeless in the floor with his little sister crying and his little brother hiding in his bedroom. The High Priestess knew when the children came into their abilities she could open their minds to this very date in which she could get a true witness account of the murder. Unfortunately, she also knew she didn't have much more time before Damien would come for her. Not nearly enough time to let the children grow into their abilities and then interrogate them. Damien realized that the High Priestess was working furiously against him and kept an annoyingly close eye on him always guarded by her Guardians and never alone during her visits to his home. She took on the job of watching Erin and Salem herself to ensure their safety should another wraith attack occur. Damien didn't bother in trying to convince her otherwise. He simply hid all of his dark relics from sight. The High Priestess knew quite well that if she was to be able to elect her predecessor she would have to do so now and give her on life up. She unfortunately also knew that choosing Damien would have to be an option. Damien was 23 when he was a selected Novice Caster to partake in the Seven Trials of Hecate for the position of High Priest. It was a few months before his twenty-fourth birthday and his sibling's birthday's had already passed. Even as a Novice he was one of the Coven's most powerful Witches.

☽Ƥєяѕσηαℓιту☾ Combining adventurousness with graceful instincts Damien is both strong and intelligent. He seems to know what others are thinking, almost like a sixth sense, but in reality he is highly observant and has acquired from experience knowledge of human behavior. Being seductive and having a mysterious edge makes it seem inherent that he has the ability to become a snake, which is often associated with such characteristics. Elegant, charming, and surprisingly agreeable, he has little trouble making friends. He tends to be friendly and receptive rather than outgoing, which only adds to his soft-spoken mysteriousness. Keeping a good balance between his social life and his independence is important and can keep Damien from becoming too detached and unemotional. Be warned: crossing Damien is not a good idea. He is capable of plotting the most complex and insidious revenge strategies. Few people are foolish enough to become his prey. Damien focuses on what he is interested in and can hold that focus longer than almost anyone else. He is optimistic and exuberant about chasing what he wants, but he is also sly and cautious in his approach. Damien always puts himself in the best possible position before he strikes. Despite his love of adventure and new experiences, he doesn't like to take unnecessary risks. Still he has to do what he does with a certain level of skill and showmanship. If there’s one thing you can't deny about Damien is that he has style. It might not be the same style as everyone else around him, but his sense of individual flair is one that does not go unnoticed. Damien usually has a great sense of humor, though those who are easily offended may not so readily agree. Damien places a lot of value on his own experiences. He learns from his own mistakes, and he is quite adept at identifying the motivations of others. Because of this, Damien is rarely ever deceived or taken advantage of without his knowledge. Sometimes he comes off as a bit suspicious, but usually he doesn't make a point of expressing his distrust. Rather, he simply chooses to live his life according to his own plan and his own standards, enduring whatever comes his way with a stoic determination.
One of the toughest things for Damien to deal with is the time he is forced to be alone. The Coven helps him to feel complete, but as more people begin to surround him it becomes harder to monitor the situation and protect his own interests. As such, Damien will often come and go in relationships, needing some time on his own in order to recoup his energy and refocus his thoughts. When allowed such time without judgment, however, Damien proves to be an interesting friend; easily passing a night away in pleasant conversation with whoever is willing to sit down and join him.
Damien is known to be a lime-light stealing, conversationalist, but also a secluded, stuck-in-his-own-ways prick. Most look to Damien for leadership rather than friendship. He always plans ahead playing life like a game of chess. He is ten moves ahead of his opponent ebfore the game even begins. He isn't one to be fooled by petty flattery, although he will accept it in any and all forms that it comes to him.

◘Ulterior Motive: Damien does not allow love or loyalty to guide his actions. Only his dedication to being the most powerful holds his loyalty. Should someone suspect things aren't as they seem, he could be in big trouble, or they would be.
◘Sadism & Masochism: Damien is excited either by causing pain or receiving it. In many situations, he will seek either to be hurt or hurt someone for his pleasure. If he fails, he is so caught up in the event that he is unaware of anything else happening around him.
◘Over-confidence: Damien has an exaggerated and unshakable opinion of his own worth and capabilities. He never hesitates to trust his abilities, even in situations where he risks defeat. Because his abilities may not be enough, such overconfidence can be very dangerous. When he does fail, he quickly finds someone or something else to blame. If he is convincing enough, you can infect others with your overconfidence.
◘Detachment: The one great weakness that Damien has is the tendency to become too detached from the world around him. Because he is highly capable of getting where he wants to go (and he tends to want to go a lot of places), Damien can be coldly calculating at times. Because he is gifted in the art of manipulation and is smart enough to know how to use it, there always exists the potential to take advantage of those around him.

✧Ancestry of Treason✧ Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex was an English nobleman and a favourite of Elizabeth I. Politically ambitious, and a committed general, he was placed under house arrest following a poor campaign in Ireland during the Nine Years' War in 1599. In 1601, he led an abortive coup d'état against the government and was executed for treason. He was a Witch with the ability to summon loyalty out of others and persuasion over others. He unfortunately abused his power and died due to underestimating the power of mortals in knowledge. His maternal great-grandmother Mary Boleyn was a sister of Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I, making him a first-cousin-twice-removed of the Queen. No one would have ever believed that his bloodline would one day continue his legacy of treason.

✧Birth of a Miracle✧
Acacia Drakos was a young Greek Witch who moved to France after the gruesome death of her parents by a Wraith. She moved in with a cousin and was raised by them from the age of 13 at which time she was initiated into the French Coven. Acacia felt that her life would never truly be happy as she came into her powers. It wasn't until she was eighteen and ascending that she met Derrick Devereux. He was a handsome youth with the ability of Seduction and Persuasion as his main affinities and his gift in potion making. Acacia had the power over necromancy and umbrakinesis with an affinity for spellcraft. Her relationship with Derrick grew very strong. When they asked their Coven Seer to bless their marriage they were turned away by the fear of what the future may bring through their procreation. Derrick and Acacia refused to be separated by simple fears of the future. The couple abandoned all that their Coven stood for and moved to the states. Acacia was already pregnant and gave birth to Damien when they reached Grievance Ridge, South Carolina. Looking at their baby boy they saw no evil. They saw no dangers. They only saw a miracle. The couple married shortly after having the boy and the curious townspeople accepted them with open arms having a big potluck to welcome the new couple and even hosted a large donation as they moved into a house with no furniture. With a large sum from her parents death's Acacia was able to move her's and Derrick's citizenship along quite quickly as they became legal American citizens. They renounced their Coven, their country, and their laws all for love and prevailed where most have fallen short. They were able to raise Damien, their miracle child who was damned by their last Coven's Seer before birth, as they saw fit as a Witch.


✧The Prodigal Son✧
Damien was eleven years old when he began to exhibit his powers. He didn't show what normal witches prove to at the age of thirteen with basic abilities such as telekinesis or clairvoyance, instead Damien began with his inner element of fire. It was this use of pyrokinesis that the Grievance Ridge Coven became fully aware of the families quirks. Damien had "accidentally" set the town church on fire during service. Everyone got out unscathed, thankfully, and no one blamed him and few knew how it could have been possible unless a candle had fallen. However, a member of the Coven sensed the use of "The Power" in the church and was quick to report it to the High Priestess and Elders. The High Priestess at the time visited the Devereux family personally along with her familiar and two guardians. He familiar took the shape of a bluejay. Apparently, the French Coven that Acacia and Derrick came from did not believe in actually beings serving as Familiars, but instead magic created Wolves who turn into humans. Neither Derrick nor Acacia had Familiars and therefore did not have the trouble of leaving them behind. The High Priestess was surprised to have two Witches and a third present in her town without her instant notice. She was both glad and surprised at how well they hid their talents. Unfortunately, she was sad to inform the couple that due to the betrayal of their previous coven they would not be permitted to practice magic and could either vow in a sacred ritual to never use magic again or become Sleepwalkers. With a kid on their hands they didn't feel that being Sleepwalkers could work out for them so chose to still hold their power, but never be able to sue it. They wanted to will their power to their son when he ascended. The High Priestess respectfully allowed their wishes. Damien's parents then performed the ritual to revoke the use of their magic for as long as they lived on Grievance Ridge soil.
However, the High Priestess did offer a place within the Coven for Damien and any other future offspring that the couple may bring forth into the world. Damien seemed to develop quickly with his powers and rose quickly with respect. His parents could not be apart of the Coven to watch their son grow, but were happy with him none-the-less.

◘Vitalum Vitalis - The balancing of the scales between one life force and another. Damien can transfer his own life force to dead or nearly dead people in order to heal them. Commonly seen side-effects are fainting and dizziness due to the strain. Can also be used to drain life force as well.
◘Concilium/Coercion/Mind Control - Imposition of one's will onto another. It can be resisted, though doing so causes increasing intracranial pressure to the point of explosion. If exercised, it can bend the strongest of wills.
◘Descensum/Astral Projection - The ability to project one's mind into different planes, such as the netherworld or afterlife. Spiritual descent into the netherworld or afterlife. Damien is able to project himself directly into Hell, which takes the form of his worst fears. (Damien's Hell is the lost of control or power over others. To lose control for him is the worst thing imaginable which can lead to him going nearly insane.) He can only survive for so long with his soul away from his body, and if he fails to return in time his body will die and disintegrate into dust. To use this power, he commonly chants an incantation. A Witch has until sun-up to return or they will become ash.
◘Necromancy - The power to utilize magic involving the dead and souls. Damien's magical abilities revolve around manipulating the dead, death, and souls for good (i.e., resurrecting spirits of the dead to communicate with loved ones), evil (in various ways) or neither. Damien can also use communicate with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge.
