Ideal Punishment (14 new)

16135 I'm going to go out of the box a little bit on this one. Some might say I'm a little insane for saying it, but I don't think that those condemned to the death penalty or life in prison should have to do either. I actually think that it would have much more of a benifit to society if we instituted prison compounds where prisoners actually do real work everyday to pay back their debt to society instead of making license plates or picking up garbage along the interstate. Instead of paying for all of the legal fees to get them executed or having to pay to have them sit on thier butts all day eating three square meals and watching cable, they could be working in an assembly line making products to help the needy and homeless, or any other assortments of jobs that could benefit society.

16135 In my own opinion, I believe that the death penalty simply lets guilty individuals off of real punishment. The mental and emotional trama, I think, are the real punishment. Life is always worth living for those who make use of it. If an inmate truly feels remorse for the crimes that they have committed, I think they should be allowed to have time to provide restitution to those they have injured in anyway, much like it seemed Sonnier wanted to. Also, if an individual does not feel remorse they can live out their lives devoid of any real human and social interaction, like Willie. I believe everyone has and deserves second chances; however, people still must always pay for their crimes in one way or another.
