Their holes are indications of how well they formed but beta had lesser quality materials to form gems with and Peridot showed Steven and Amethyst that the majority of beta kindergarteners came from deformed holes.

You can have a Ruby from one of the kindergartens.

There's been no confirmation on the types of gems made in kindergartens, we only know for sure that quartz soldiers were made there. We don't know about the other types of gems which were produced. As stated in the show though the gems from the beta kindergarten tend to have more defects than the prime kindergarten regardless of type.

Activity isn't dead but it's not exactly great either >~<

Aqua considered. Morganite seemed sincere and she couldn't see the harm in allowing her to stay with them. "I'll talk with the others." She said finally.

"We would never. At most we would imprison you." Aqua said, almost musing. "May I know why you are no long aligned with the Diamonds?" She asked.

"So it took you this long to gather your courage?" Aqua asked, one brow raising skeptically. She didn't particularly have a problem with allowing Morganite to stay with them but she wasn't so sure that the gem had simply decided it was time to speak with them.

Aqua looked the new gem over and wondered at how many new faces she would see today. "Why?" She asked simply.

"That is the sound one makes when they wish to enter a place they are visiting." Aqua said and cautiously went to open the door. The didn't get many visitors.

"Not quite." Aqua said, smiling though it was tinged with a sadness that Spinel probably didn't recognize. "We were sent here by the Diamonds of Homeworld to create gems using the resources of this planet."

Aqua looked amused. "What do you know of how gems came to know of Earth?" She asked, wondering what homeworld was spouting. Surely the diamonds wouldn't want dissent to be common knowledge.

Not to my knowledge, gems usually wear colors similar to their skin tone but I see no real reason for this

Aqua honestly didn't mind answering all the questions, once she warmed up to the gem she had boundless patience for Spinel. If she didn't have plenty of patience she wouldn't have been able to manage Emerald all these years after all. Speaking of, despite knowing all the uses and applications for everything Emerald was right next to Spinel asking just as many questions just as exuberantly.
