157649 What about this one by Evanescence?

"Lost In Paradise"

I've been believing in something so distant
As if I was human
And I've been denying this feeling of hopelessness
In me, in me

All the promises I made
Just to let you down
You believed in me, but I'm broken

I have nothing left
And all I feel is this cruel wanting

We've been falling for all this time
And now I'm lost in paradise

As much as I'd like the past not to exist
It still does
And as much as I'd like to feel like I belong here
I'm just as scared as you

I have nothing left
And all I feel is this cruel wanting

We've been falling for all this time
And now I'm lost in paradise

Run away, run away
One day we won't feel this pain anymore

Take it all away
Shadows of you
Cause they won't let me go

Until I have nothing left
And all I feel is this cruel wanting

We've been falling for all this time
And now I'm lost in paradise

Alone, and lost in paradise

Just look at this lyrics!

God is dead
When someone fills your hearts instead
Your soul's on fire all your needs
How can they call it blasphemy

Love is nature
So you're..."

Katerina, I'd never heard that song before but yes! It definitely says all there is to say about this series! And thanks for introducing me to a new band.

157649 "Are you all right?" It's a stupid question because there's not much I can do for him if he isn't all right, but it just tumbles out.
He snorts. "Aside from being beaned with a rock, I'll live."
"Sorry." I feel pretty god-awful about that, but there's no point in groveling over it.
"The next time you have a quarrel with me, I'd appreciate it if you could just talk to me first before resorting to pelting me with rocks."
"Oh, all right," I grumble. "You're so damned civilized."
"Yeah, that's me. Civilized." He shakes the blood off his hand.
157649 When I hear 'Pretender' by Foo Fighters it makes me think of the showdown between Raffe and the other angels. Then there's also Hozier's 'From Eden' that I feel like could fit this series.

157649 Love them! Just please, no stickers. I think someone else mentioned it. At least let them removable so they don't detract from that gorgeous cover.

For me... The cover catches my eye, the synopsis intrigues, but the story must capture me. This was definitely a slam dunk!

P.S. Yeah, I'm feverishly praying the Raffe gets to stay with Pen (or she gets to become an angel) because they definitely need to stay together. They were a mess apart!

I liked him with the "keep it down" quip but I didn't fall until later. I wanted to attempt to figure out his motives first. Was he just using Pen to get revenge? Does he feel the need to protect her because she saved him and he owes her? Is it because he's an archangel (and the archangel of healing, at that!) that he feels the pull to do right by her? Or does he genuinely start to have a soft spot where she's concerned? He's still such a mystery (Like why is he holding back with Penryn? What will happen to them if he gives in?). But I don't doubt his intentions anymore. He won me over!

157649 I was just wondering, should we be starting the listed chapters by those dates or finishing them?

I'm a rereader. I discovered Angelfall when it seemed to be popping up everywhere I looked. Haha! My favorite character is Raffe and I have too many favorite quotes to pick just one.

Right? I just saw this reread group so I need to catch up!

And I believe someone else was worried about being an adult reading a YA genre? I'm 31, married, and love these books. So no worries! You're among friends. The YA world has so many good series out lately that it's hard not to be a fan.

157649 I had been in this "fallen angel saves mankind" mode when I came across Angelfall. Both Amazon and Goodreads suggested it based on my previous books - Hush, Hush series; Halfling; A Touch of Crimson. I waffled because I normally don't like post apocolyptic books. So when I saw it again at BAM and Barnes & Noble (that cover is pretty epic so it is hard to miss!), I figured the fates were speaking to me. I read it in 2 days, I think. I couldn't put it down! World After was quickly inhaled soon after. This has definitely become one of my favorite series. I normally "screen" books that I'm ify on by reading the digital form first. If I fall in love, it gets a place of honor on my bookshelf as a real, live book for future repeated comsumption. So guess where they are now.....

As for favorite quote, that's a hard one! There were so many zingers that I'm not sure I could pick just one. I love it when characters are smart and spunky with a little bit of edge. The dialogue between Pen and Raffe is so amazing. I almost think I could live off listening to the give and take they have in conversations.
