I didn't know Jace was this funny, I honestly just thought he was a cocky little bastard..."I totally agree! Sometimes I'm shocked as to how far ahead she planned! I think of certain things that come into play in City of Heavenly Fire and I'm like "is this what she always intended or did it just happen to fit in?"

Kelli that quote is so good omg hahaha

AH IM SO GLAD YOU GUYS ARE LOVING IT
Jennifer wrote: "Just finished this and I really loved it (again) I did notice that some parts were a little slow, which is okay it was still good. Something I noticed that I didn't pick up on the first time I read..."I saw the movie before I read the books, so the first three or so times I read these books, I imagined Valentine as a brunette with long hair and no shirt, not white-blonde hair and a suit XD

And Johanna that is such a good point! I feel like I want to say he'd off himself because he hates demons and downworlders that much, but I could never see him giving up for anything haha. I'm currently up to where Luke and Valentine are fighting at Renwicks and I think of Valentine a bit differently when he says "You tore my heart out years ago." Definitely makes me rethink him being an emotionless monster hahahaha

-continued- I definitely don't want to be blinded to it's faults. For example, I picked on a bit more of the writing that I didn't like, especially in the beginning. It totally gets better especially throughout the series, but I'm glad I'm more aware of these things now:)

Sonia you can totally post spoilers here! This is the end where everyone comes to discuss AFTER finishing the book. I'd love to hear your thoughts! As a tip, the series REALLLYYY picks up in book 3. I know it's a long time to give it a chance, but I totally recommend sticking it out. If you don't love it by then, it's a satisfying enough ending that you can put it down, but after finishing City of glass I DOUBT you'll want to :)
Kelli, I totally agree. While I wouldn't lower my rating, I totally agree I picked up on a lot more faults reading it this time, which I think is a good thing! Since this is my favorite series

Haha Sonia I love your comment! Reading people's first impressions are always so great! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the book and if anything changes :)

And Alex, I totally agree! Even from the start, Jace was my favorite character :) Don't get me wrong, I love ALLLLL of them, but I just can't get over him hahah

I'm starting chapter 7 and I totally agree, Sierra! Sometimes, I have other things I'd rather do than read, but now I'm just like, can life stop getting in the way so I can get my fix of Shadowhunters?! Hahaha I always found these books so easy to get into, so I never understood why people complain reading it is a drag. Like, I'm on page 99 and SOOOO much has happened! I feel like the beginning is the perfect blend between normalcy (ex. Going to Java Jones and Pandemonium with Simon) and supernatural (ex, the demons/ the institute). Anyone agree?

THAT'S IT. WE'RE DONE. WE HAVE OFFICIALLY COMPLETED THE FIRST BOOK IN THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES!
Let me know what you think below! First of all, HOW DID YOU LIKE IT?! Were you guys surprised by the ending? For those of you rereading, did you find anything new that you didn't notice before? How many stars would you give it?
Leave any comments about the book below, and don't forget to join us for our liveshow for a further discussion of City of Bones on Saturday, April 4th at 9pm EST!
Also, don't forget to pick up City of Ashes, which we will be starting in April as well! Thanks to all of you who participated this month, and I'm looking forward to continuing this series with you :)

Hey guys! So in about a week on March 1st, this is where we can start discussing City of Bones by Cassandra Clare!
Please limit your discussions/comments to JUST THE FIRST 8 CHAPTERS. We want to be able to talk about the books without spoiling anyone who hasn't read as much as you yet!
So what are you guys thinking so far? What are your first impressions of the characters? Do you have a favorite so far?!
Interested to see what you guys think!!
-xoxo Emma

Ah you guys have such interesting answers! We have such a nice variety in this group! This is going to make for such interesting discussions :)

Hey guys! So this read along is about to take effect in two weeks exactly! I'm getting super pumped and I hope you are too!
So, I was thinking maybe if you guys were interested, we could share if this read along is going to be your first time reading the books, a reread, or if you're going to be giving it a second try!
This will be my 7th time reading the series personally. :)
Looking forward to reading with you all!!
