156321 And there was me thinking that's why it'd been chosen! I had a bit of a thrill when I got to that bit too. We might be quite easily pleased!

I've finished the book now, but still not really sure what I make of it. It was superbly written and Helen offered a real and thoughtful insight into her grief. I guess the fact that I think of her as 'Helen' and not 'MacDonald' shows that I felt some personal connection with her, but this isn't one of those books which really got to me. I'm not sure why. Perhaps because the falconry aspect, as interesting as it was, wasn't something I felt I ever really related to. I know there was more to it than training and flying a bird, but I didn't really connect with it.

That said, there's no denying it's a good book and a good read!

156321 I haven't started it yet, but have picked up a copy from the library and should be getting stuck in next week. I'm interested to see how I get on with it as a friend of mine was really looking forward to reading this, but then found herself getting really frustrated with it. Can't wait to see what it's like for myself!

156321 Hello,
I'm a librarian at Swansea University, though until recently I worked at UWTSD Swansea. I read pretty regularly (I am a librarian after all!) and am always happy to find new books to enjoy. The books I like often seem to come under the heading of 'contemporary literature', whatever that means, but I also enjoy Young Adult stuff, historical fiction and crime (the cosy stuff, nothing too brutal!). Favourite authors include Kate Atkinson, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
