Slow clapping salts my undies.

This isn't so much about the image...but the cover in general:

Exobytes were the event that allowed players to be superheroes in DC Universe Online, I believe. Brainiac's invasion brought them and Luthor went to the past to try and stop...sorry, this isn't the time or the place.

Ridiculous in all the right ways. Great job. I was entertained throughout. :-)

Best. Idea. Ever.

So, I was wondering, especially in light of the conversation about starting our third (and fourth) books, after we finish any novels/stories if anyone would be interested in watching the film adaptations for further discussion. They made a movie of John Dies at the End (haven't seen it yet but it's on NetFlix) and I'm sure we've all seen Jurassic Park at some points in our lives (at least ten times?). I would rather us finish the first written product, obviously, but perhaps as an aside for further discussion if we can watch those to see how well or horribly they were adapted and if we can understand any changes or if we would have liked to have seen other events/characters/etc. done differently. Just a thought, so tell me what you think.

Risking sounding like a "yes-man," I actually thought that myself a couple weeks ago but wasn't sure how everything would turn out. I think it's a great idea and is also extremely fair. I also think we should be as sensitive as possible about costs, as well. I've had John Dies at the End for a couple years, and I feel bad if anyone has to pay an exuberant amount of money to get a copy. I know this should technically be in another thread, but I did have an idea about each of us compiling a list of the books we all have (I know that came up with Ocean at the End of the Lane, all of us already owning it), so that people don't have to spend a ton of extra money doing this. Just an idea for us to kind of see where we are, and any approval, negations, or other ideas are always welcomed.

I just read that this last summer (Jurassic Park and The Lost World both) but I'm never opposed rereading classics.

Sorry, this phone-based app is almost not worth using because of the constant typos.

Well, yeah. I can bleed out a little from a cut and be fine when it heals, but if I continual bleed from a wound eventually my health will diminish.

*Bubba Ho-Tep as far as the sense of ridiculousness that can occur but you have to just kinda go with it.

It's a bit over 400 pages and is a horror novel with a sense of humor. I would say it's akin to Bubbah Ho-Tep in some ways but deals with transdimensional conspiracies and monsters. The main characters are sort of losers who end up being the players in these scheme to try to save the world from hostile take over. It is a unique story, to be sure.

We can now start the series over and finally understand and feel for these people with the sympathy and high praise they deserve. I'm pretty sure I'm being sincere, too, because this makes way too much sense to ignore.

How about Imajica?
Hahahahahahaha!!!!
Sorry, had to. I did have a suggestion for a very odd novel that's kind of a comedy/horror called John Dies at the End. I read it a couple years ago and I will admit it isn't for everyone, but I was thinking of reading it again before I started the sequel (This Book is Full of Spiders), so I thought I'd suggest it here and see what everyone thought.

And a quick Google search (just to see what came up) brought me this jewel:
http://bp2.uuuploads.com/worst-book-c...I would read it just to see if the cover does it justice.

Unfortunately it's not letting me follow through the link. Here is one of the worst covers I've ever seen, but it fits with the story and was a very decent novel:

Here's a pic of one that I've always enjoyed with its tight, succinct, and subtle elements to show the horror.

Here's something I think could be interesting. What is your favorite book cover? I know we shouldn't judge this things for the story, but how about just some neat pictures/paintings/designs that have caught your attention over the years.
On the flip side: what about the worst as well?

Awesome. Thank you for the info.

Honestly, with as vague as the events were - even some of those within the meat of the story - the funeral was probably simply a plot device to bring the narrator back to his once-childhood home. He's told he comes every few years to be judged, essentially, and I would assume that some event has to bring him back to that specific area every so often. I'm sure it was a person he knew and not a fabrication (but who knows?), but the point seems to be that the visit to the Hempstock farm is the true reason as far as this universe is concerned.
