154805 Maybe I have French taste..... <_<

154805 That looks like a nice one, and I've read so many on it already!

154805 Give me a few hours and I'll post some ideas into the book suggestions thread
154805 Hmm, I wonder if one unlearns muscle-memory if you don't enforce it enough? Because I keep making letter mistakes if I try to write fast these days. (Like forming them wrong)
154805 Yes, I have it too with a KB, don't know why that happens - I too, never did it while writing longhand. It happens to me with their and there. Perhaps it's because muscle memory is employed more while typing.

154805 I am shocked that no works of Victor Hugo made it to this list! :O Now I like the list a lot less. >:(

154805 If any of you find a list but you won't have time to copy and paste the actual list, you can always just post a link for us in this thread.

154805 Good, and then do add them to our lists folder, if you have time- even a link will do. Wait, let me set up a thread for just links.

For my purposes, I'm finding that this list is doing the trick for me:

Such a list might be a tad too specialised for this specific group, but I'm sure if you google something like "Greatest French works of literature", or "Best French books" etc, you could find one?

Indeed. I have changed the title of the thread accordingly. Let's use this thread to add our sadness and outrage about the silencing of voices.

No, I don't hate myself... you on the other hand...

I meant that to say that you will all hate me too. But through the hatred, you all love me because I'm the pot-stirrer.

To create a shelf from a list - that would be extremely useful yes. Suggest it to GR?
Btw, I STILL have not heard back from GR, and I had reported my problem via 3 separate channels.

The Hollow Men is short- shall we start with that? I realized in the last few days that we have zero poetry on the discussion table and no short stories in the coming 6 months.

It is probably just as easy to add them off the Listopia:

..and here it was because I thought you discovered you had a life. :P - well, I am not going to add in the around 3000 list entries that I have posted in the past 24 hours, but now I hate you both for starting the niggle in my mind that maybe I should. Aaaarrgghh!
154805 I know, studying it is half the fun. It seems very representative of a variety of genres and categories as well, more so than the 1001 list, which makes it the kind of list that most people would not want to read in full, anyway.

Still... that's part of what makes it a good list, of course.
154805 It's glorious, isn't it? Finally a list that seems reasonably representative of world literature, not just Anglophone lit. The Le Monde list has the problem that it's too French again.

I suppose this one will naturally still be skewed towards what is available in English, because of course, the list is in English, but I love all the non-English entries.
154805 Yes, the shelf-adding is a bit painful if you have many challenges going, unfortunately. Unless you do it piecemeal, gradually.

154805 I think I'm going to lower my count on this one to 40.

Re The Waste Land- that's definitely discussion-worthy material. We could always warm up with The Hollow Men.
154805 I am SO evil. I just couldn't resist - would you have been able to?
*whistles innocently*
Seriously, though, it's a nicely put together list the way it's done by author. A nice resource - if you have the time - for just dipping into or for checking out what each author had written and also as a reminder of what's out there.
154805 PS. I can't help wondering why the have that specific Zweig... and not other Stefan Zweig works which might be more deserving.
