50x66 I finished this today and loved it. It takes place in a real place in England that was commandeered by the government during WWII as a military area and never returned to the former owners.
This story takes place in the years previous to and during WWII. Elise is a 19 year old Austrian Jew whose parents send her to England to work as a servant on an estate to escape the pogroms.
The estate, Tyneford, is reminiscent of Downton Abbey in that it has a large staff that is drastically reduced by the war, a small village that is dependent on Tyneford for employment, and some interesting personalities.

50x66 I finished this about a week ago. Mitford, NC is one of my favorite fictional small towns and Father Tim is a man I wish I could meet. He and Cynthia are finally home in Mitford and Father Tim is trying to get used to retirement. Happy Endings bookstore figures prominently and so do Dooley's brothers.
I always feel good after reading about Mitford, peaceful and ready to face the world again.
