thanks for the instructions dan. it still may take me a while to come up with one and work it out...so in the meantime, if someone (patty??) wants to post another -i say go for it.
hi dan. I agree with kerry. i'd imagine, when you are interested (enough) you will consciously seek out other authors. to be honest, something about that woman's article really irritated me. i'm not quite sure what to say about it yet. i just know i wanted to shout as i was reading it.
i'm going off to ponder (and maybe yell) & then i'll be back.
Slowrabbit wrote: "Shel....you know you are coming? Spain will still be there. Plus, we need you and Alan because someone has to make the fajitas!!"and we also want Alan to "bring the noize."
and now that Les is on board, how do we convince him to convince John and Doug to drop in and join us?
Shel....you know you are coming? Spain will still be there. Plus, we need you and Alan because someone has to make the fajitas!!
I'm very happy you did. Not to muddy the process anymore, but just to share-
My new best friend, Mark, messaged me yet again saying that the Moclips downstairs unit has a "great room" where he sometimes holds staff meetings where 35 (or more) people will gather for "meals & fellowship".
i still haven't voted. i'm not used to voting situations where i like all the options.
thank you Jennie for the follow up. i had read on one of the listings that weekends weren't available and Mo is right, i just assumed that was probably a wedding party booking thing. I had called Paul back to clarify, but had not reached him yet.i'm finding it hard to vote. wherever we are will be great.
Guy from the BIG HOUSE in Cle Elum left me a message today. Place is open July 23- 27 from what i can tell -they don't rent over weekends- so it'd be mon thru fri.it's a big one. says there is room for 30.

just for comparison-here is the other Cle Elum site Patty and I were looking at. cozier. less frills and not as fancy. but i love the wrap around porch.

and i'll post this one once more -just cause i think it's still available. again -would be a cozier experience. not as many rooms and no big central dining room from what i can tell- but it has a lot of other things going for it.

and i didn't hear back from the Kingston place yet.
sadly, i won't be able to do much more searching. this week, work wise, i'll be distracted. also had my files from a big book project i've been putting together for the library, flake out on me.
http://www.vrbo.com/260017#rates here is the other listing. again, rates have changed. but from what i could decipher- if it's available (???) 5 nights (for up to 30 people) it says $3195 adding in tax and cleaning fees if we say $3600 @15 people would be $240what i had mostly been targeting were the places that had us about $200 a person or lower.
that said, if this place was available... up to 30 people... maybe we need to start recruiting more dorks to come share the love (and the pain). JE's famous now... he should be able to corral a few more people.
and where the hec is Mary Guterson?? why has she not committed to coming yet. Ben, start working on her. actually, everyone should message Mary.
i don't want Kingston ruled out. Trust me, it will still be a holiday for me- wherever we end up. there are things about it that could be great. & i just got an email back from Ann- looks like the Skamania place is out. now for 5 consecutive nights we'd have to move up to June.
anyway, maybe we can keep that place in mind for the future.
Hey Jennie. Kingston is cute enough. Has everything one would need. I'm often over there a couple times a week dropping, my bud, Silas off for Pre-School. It's close enough, i'd probably crash at home- run back & forth, that would free up another sleeping area and reduce the snore (volume) quotient by a hefty margin.i'd say this place probably won't have the seclusion we've enjoyed other places but in trade other things become more accessible. and, yep, je's cabin- i'm guessing, would be about an hour away.

this other listing has a few more details and photos. also looks like the rate has changed. i sent them an email about availability just to check- because the first listing looks like they only rent it out between November and June.
& i know a few people said they like the looks of the Skamania location. i'm still working on finding out more about availability. it sounded iffy unless we wanted to change our dates. -sent another message to the woman but she's been slow with a response.
ok fellow dorks. here is another possibility Patty spotted it... http://www.vrbo.com/250705this one in the Roslyn/Cle Elum area again -for those who made it 2 years ago.
not new news but just fyi- just received a couple return messages about the places in Sequim. not much available last week of July. the lodge (vrbo #331481) has an opening the july 22-28. but that place, as we noted before is big and pricey. It looks lovely. If enough people thought it was worth it- might be a great place. but if the plan was to spend half or most of the time at JE's cabin- does it make sense to spend that much money? as je mentioned there are lots of B&B's in the Sequim area as well. but looking at some of them- many are even pricier when you break it down per night and they accommodate fewer people.
I don't think i found anything, Patty hasn't already shared with us. I'll keep looking and asking around.
I still like Patty's Ocean Shores idea too.
wherever we decide, we might want to decide soon, because availability is already an issue.
can't wait to see y'all.
and people would be welcome to sleep in my car with me.
but i snore like a steam engine and talk in my sleep. it's not pretty.
i haven't dismissed it. as i said, i love the idea of being right on the coast. i was just trying to jump in and find more options- til we decided.
think the concern was the number of actual sleeping spots. it could get snuggly.
for me, i'd be content sleeping in my car.
i will keep looking when i get a chance- and will try to get more info on the one i posted earlierhttp://www.vrbo.com/311341
it is a bit pricey for an entire week... guess the question is how long does everyone think they will be able to stay? maybe 4 nights/5 days? would cut the price down a bit. & if we can't be in Sequim, how do people feel about being southern washington- closer to portland? think it said it was less than an hour to PDX.
i'm still looking around Sequim as well... won't have much time tomorrow but maybe Friday and this weekend i'll do more searching and make a few calls.
