153333 That is a good point, but could it not also separate those who do not benefit to our society so much, through circumstance or even just laziness? How much would you say is too little, and who would decide what the term benefit entails?

And if those who benefit mankind/society be seen to be punishing those who do not? By creating a segregation, making some feel as if they should not bother. How would it apply to children or the mentally disabled?

153333 Thank you SD, so is yours. And both of you have very interesting and valid points. Even if those laws are there to protect others, it begs the question why do so few have the power to judge what our free will should include?

Just because we have the free will to vote who will decide what we can and cannot do does not mean we are actually free (see my topic on equality vs inequality).

@ Krishna, so do you agree that genes must, in a sense, be more free than us?

@ SD, you are very right that it relies on definition, but shouldn't, surely, free will include all? Or does that not then defy the definition of free will completely?
153333 You are both very welcome :) and yes, I find it very fascinating in a great sense. You have some of the most amazing mythology and a wonderful culture. You are both super lucky xD
153333 Is it our human right to decide whether or not we can live? If so, then should Euthanasia be a human right?

Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient who is suffering from a coma they will never wake from or immense incurable pain.

It is also frowned upon by many.

If they are a patient is there not a chance the doctor's could save them?

Don't doctor's get things wrong quite a lot, what if they woke up tomorrow?

How would their families feel?

How can we put safeguards down so we don't end the life of someone who could get better?

What if they are highly depressive and/or suicidal - should it then be allowed anyway?

...

If Euthanasia became common practise what would be the safeguards for it, do you think it would need any? Anything has the possibility at being abused, and if that possibility fell, just once to Euthanasia the results would be devastating!

153333 So it is in our genes that makes us different enough to have different viewpoints and to make the decisions we do over life and death?

You could use a book as an example, you could say that the words written are expressions of freedom of will. Or you could say that the writers genes has made them think that way to write it.

Then, who in the very beginning made the genes that control us? Or have they always existed alone. If so, does that mean that our genes have free will to control us? And then in a sense don't we have free will because they are our genes, or could that be a delusion as if they control us are we not their slaves?

153333 So you believe that we should not have equality?

What do you class as a very hard working and good person in comparison to someone who is not. What if they were hard working but a bad person, commits murders? Or a good person, helps people whenever they can, but is not hard working.

Do you believe that circumstances should also be accounted for?
153333 Hey Krishna :) it is lovely to meet you, cool that you are from India too as well. Don't worry we don't discourage, just encourage ;)
153333 What makes you believe that? What has led to these thoughts? If it is just an idea then what do you believe has triggered this, any proof?
153333 Hey SD :) it is really nice to meet you, thank you. How long have you been living in India? That is a really interesting country, I live in England :)
153333 Hi I am Isabella, I am studying Ethical Religious Studies at school and have been asking questions my whole life. I felt it was time to ask them to you all and listen to yours.

Does this topic make you feel pressured to say who you are? Or is it Free Will that brought you here?
153333 Do you have any burning questions you would like to ask? Yes, worried it won't fit, of course it would. Still worried? We'll make you a folder suited to your type of questions...is that segregation?

153333 If we go anywhere does that mean death is only metaphorical in terms of leaving one place for another?

i.e. My time in Barbados is dead, now I go to Mexico!

153333 To answer this you must realise: what is free will?

Is it the freedom to speak your mind in any situation? Could this just be an illusion and not free will at all?

Or

Is it the ability to control your reflex actions and when you blink? Because we can't do that.

153333 What concrete evidence is there to prove that they exist?

153333 Inequality means that some will have less than others and be treated better or worse.

But equality will mean EVERYONE would have to compromise. Where would equality end? Animal equality also? Meaning everyone would be forced to be vegan, but everyone is equal so who forces who not to do something wrong?

Does that mean that it would be an endless acceptance of war and havoc? If everyone is equal we would all be paid the same but no one would police anyone because if they have the right to so will those they are policing.

Would crime even exist?

153333 All throughout history and even now people have been inflicting the nastiest forms of pain upon one another, from torture to endless wars and not to forget the Roman Colosseum.

So is it within out nature to want to cause havoc and pain? OR is it a disease which a cure has not been found to yet?

153333 Say for example your true love, child or [insert other loved one] has been HIGHLY depressive and drank FAR too much one day, with the result being the accidental hit and run (too drunk to realise what has happened) of an old lady holding a baby.

Do you save your loved one and stand up for them or let them take the fall in years of prison you know they will not be able to handle, to the point of a disastrous happening?
153333 No matter who they are or what they have done (the person you are killing and the person you are saving).

Is it down to personal attachment?
153333 Does the Big Bang contradict the existence of God?

And vice versa

Does God contradict the Big Bang ever having happened or, if not, happening on its own?
