• THE 12 LABOURS OF HERCULES

The twelve labours of Hercules are a series of episodes concerning a penance carried out by Heracles, the greatest of the Greek heroes, whose name was later Romanised as Hercules. They were accomplished over 12 years at the service of King Eurystheus.

Now it's up to you!

Duration: 6 months
Books to read: At least 12 (1 per labour)

1. Slay the Nemean Lion.
Read a book with a lion on the cover or in the title OR a book with 3 or 0 in the pages total OR read a banned book.

2. Slay the nine-headed Lernaean Hydra.
Read a book about a monster, serpent or immortal being OR a book with a body of water on the cover OR a book with horror, suspense or mystery in its main genre.

3. Capture the Golden Hind of Artemis.
Read a book with some kind of weapon on the cover (dagger, arrow, etc.) OR a book related to sports OR a book set in a country different from the one where you currently live.

4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar.
Read a book with a purple cover OR a book about food or drinks OR a book with 4 in its publication date.

5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day.
Read a book with a cow on the cover or in the title OR where the main characters gets humiliated/has to deal with humiliation OR a book that has been on your TBR shelf for a long time.

6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds.
Read a book with birds or a metallic color (bronze, gold, etc.) on the cover OR a book where something gets destroyed OR an author whose initials can be found in STYMPHALIAN.

7. Capture the Cretan Bull.
Read a book with a boat or a sea creature on the cover OR a book with 7 in its average rating OR a book about a sacrifice.

8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes.
Read a book about a thief OR a book with a horse on the cover OR a book with a green cover.

9. Obtain the girdle of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons.
Read a book written by a new-to-you female author OR a book with crime, fantasy or non-fiction as its main genre OR a book with a woman on the cover.

10. Obtain the cattle of the monster Geryon.
Read a book that takes place in the Middle East OR a book with a yellow cover OR a book written last year.

11. Steal the apples of the Hesperides.
Read a book with fruit on the cover OR a book where something is lost or forgotten OR a book that is #1 in a series.

12. Capture and bring back Cerberus.
Read a book with classics, memoir or travel in its main genre OR a book with 1 or 2 in its pages total OR a book with a red cover.
