Today's the day!
Just a suggestion: we could write on top of our posts the chapter we're commenting in each one of them, so people who haven't reached that part can avoid spoilers (I saw they did so in the 'North and South' buddy read and I think it's a good idea)
Enjoy the reading!!

First things first, I hope you and your family stay safe Celia (and Lesle's family too)

I will do my very best to get started on No Name this weekend, although I foresee a busy weekend ahead. 2 months should be enough time, overall."
Don't worry ;)

I agree Maria if the pace that is set is too fast for some (as they read others books, like Rosemarie does) we can always extend out by a couple week..."
No problem Lesle! Sunday's ok for me too.

Thanks for joining!
We'll have two months to read this book. I made a quick calculation and I think we'll have to read about 100 pages per week, is that ok for you all?
We can always add a little more time if we need to.
Also, we should agree on a date to start reading. I was thinking about starting this weekend (maybe on Saturday) but I'd like to hear your suggestions :)

I'm new to these buddy reads, so I reckon we should wait to see if there's anyone else wanting to join us (as Lesle said in the other thread) and then agree on a day to start reading?

Yep. And the fourth one is directly brutal.
I've just finished it too and I agree with Kathy on the themes that stand out in the novel, though I would highlight human cruelty and human love as the ones who have made the biggest impression on me. How far can people go out of envy, ambition, hatred... how they can manipulate everyone and everything, even their own thoughts to get the result they want, how they convince themselves that what they are doing is the right thing. Sadly, it's something that still happens nowadays.
On the other hand, the love story is the part I've enjoyed the most, I've fallen in love and suffered with those two so much...
Hopefully, this won't be the last novel by Dumas I'll read, I've really liked this first experience.

I agree, she's so good-hearted, but for me the most touching moments come right after the scene you've commented and in the next chapter, when everyone is there for Miss Matty after what happens to her. I specially liked Martha's attitude (she became one of my favourite characters after that part)

Thanks!!

My name's María and I'm from Spain.
I love reading since I learnt to when I was a child (now I'm 26) Mostly, I read contemporary and mystery novels though there are many genres I like too (fantasy, historical fiction, some romance...)
What about classics? Well, a couple of years ago, while talking with some classmates from my French lessons, I realized that the only classics I'd ever read were the ones I was obliged to in high school or university and I thought "I need to change this" Since then I try to read some classics every year and I've really enjoyed most of them.
So, when I found out this group I thought "Why not?"
And here I am, looking forward to discovering new classics and sharing great readings with you all!
