I read Whistling Past The Graveyard by Susan Crandall set in 1964. I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t read the blurb and was very surprised when it turned out to not have anything to do with an actual graveyard. Haha. I was expecting a spooky story and what I got instead was found family and civil rights and so much more.

There is a muppets version?! Maybe I’ll put that on with my children for talk like a pirate day.

Hi! I read this book in July to fulfill the Pirate prompt. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up but I had already ordered it for my tween to read and I figured since it was here I’d read it. It wasn’t an easy read. The language required me to really focus on the words and context and I’ll probably never reread BUT I’m SO glad I read it because I understand so many popular culture references like the fast food fish restaurant etc. and I saw a similarity to Jack Sparrow in one of the characters. I loved the descriptions of the island. Overall it’s a book I’d say everyone should read. I haven’t seen any movies except Pirates of the Caribbean which is based on the ride which I suspect was based on this book. So kinda? I do plan to watch the movie soon.
