Pleasure, Cheryl. After everything you and Dagny have been doing for the group, especially for the last couple of months, it was the least I could do.
And I am so glad that you liked the recommendation. I love all four of them - yours and Dagny's contributions are way complex and fun and I am looking forward to finding different books for the next month! I am so glad we are having this as a full-month challenge!!
Cheryl and Dagny,I was free today so thought why not create the challenge page for the next month now and have it ready for everyone in advance as this is the first time we are having this super amazing challenge!
I hope that's okay with you both.
Here is the July month's thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Hello dear members,This month for the genre challenge, we have a very unique setup for you. We have not one or two but 4 challenges for you this month. Ideally, these 4 challenges are to be completed over the course of 4 weeks of the month of July - 1 challenge/game per week, but you know how lenient we are with the rules here at RMFAO, so go ahead and do the challenge your way; if you want to mix up the weeks, then, by all means, do it, if you want to do all four challenges for each week, then feel free to do that or if you just want to pick one or two of these challenges and roll with it then you can do that too!
The point, as always, is to have loads of fun! So here are the 4 challenges for the month fo July:
Game Month:
1. Action Challenge - Book title contains a verb.
2. Family Challenge - Book title contains a type of family member. (i.e. father, child, husband, wife, son, mother, etc.)
3. Water Challenge - Book title contains some type of water.
(i.e. river, rain, ocean, pool, water, etc.)
4. Proverb or Catch Phrase in Title - can be a pun, nursery rhyme, variation on a movie/book title, popular phrase, etc. Often seen in Cozies and other mysteries.
As this si our first month, we are posting the challenge thread in advance. Please feel free to ask questions and share book recommendations here so that it'll help others too.
All the best and happy reading!
Oh no... I was deleting John's comment and by mistake, I deleted your comment, Dagny. I am so sorry! Is there a way to recover deleted comments?
John, what the hell is that comment supposed to mean? Kindly do not be rude to any member, especially not to any moderator. It will not be tolerated! If I don't see a heartfelt apology from you for Dagy (or whoever the insult was meant to) within 24 hrs then I will be removing and blocking you from the group.
Cheryl wrote: "2. My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell (Literary Fiction)4 stars. Well-written but an emotionally hard story to read."
So true! This was one of the hardest books I've ever read. Though it was such an eye opened. Brilliantly written. Glad you liked it :)
Finished listening to Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu (read by Elizabeth Klett) - recommended by Cheryl - what an impressive read! Wow. My review can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I've mentioned you, Cheryl, as the one who suggested the book. Hope that's okay, if not, let me know, please.
Thanks a lot for suggesting such an amazing book.
And I am open to more such gothic suggestions. Please feel free to suggest more books!!
Cheryl - Wow... sounds really good! And it pre-dates Dracula by 20 years! Thanks for this rec. I will be starting with it this week itself!
Dagny, Cheryl, Fran and others can you please recommend a scary gothic horror classic? I've already read and loved The Turn Of The Key and The Woman In Black - so something along these lines would be perfect!
Thanks in advance!

Cheryl wrote: "I'm posting this here because Heena had mentioned enjoying Lisa Jewell's books. I just finished Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. It was great! A very character-centered mystery. ..."
You're welcome, Cheryl! I am so glad that you liked her book :D
Her characters are really, really interesting. And I agree about not liking all of them, I sometimes even despise some but that's how brilliant author Jewel is in creating her characters.
I haven't read this one but I'm starting with it by this weekend... and now I'm really looking forward to reading it!
