141034 Of course in the U.S. though the "War of Northern Aggression" was fought (and lost) over 150 years ago there is still some animosity between the two groups.

There are plenty of stereotypes and there are grains of truth in them when they're not taken too far or mistaken for specific truths.

Some examples:
The North has coffee houses, The South has Waffle Houses
The North has double last names, The South has double first names.
The North has Cream of Wheat, The South has grits.
The North has green salads, The South has collard greens
The North has lobsters, The South has crawdads.

141034 First off, the south is NOT liberal. It's called the Bible Belt for a reason. Almost the entire south goes Republican in every presidential election. I'd agree that Georgia,Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina are hard core southern. Texas is too but it has a flavor of its own. Larger cities tend to be less "old time southern" than the smaller towns.

There's a saying in Florida that the further north you go, the more southern ya get. That's true. North Florida, particularly northwestern Florida is pretty much as southern as Georgia and Alabama etc.

Were you thinking of Hemingway's short story when you wrote that?

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

One possible game for Readers (Most writers are) Create six word summaries for books and ask them to identify them. I created a number of popular quizzes based on that concept. This one may give you some ideas https://www.goodreads.com/quizzes/177...
