139735 Completion Post Letter M
Mother Swamp (A Point in Time, #7) by Jesmyn Ward

Okay I had to cheat here a little, this is not a whole book but a short story. It was very good. About a family of women, the first of whom escaped slavery and hiding essentially underground for generations. While based in some factual evidence of communities of escaped slaves, the author takes it farther by creating this blood related family who survives for generations this way. It will be interesting to see if the author turns this into a whole book.

139735 Hi Hina,

It’s actually Lynnette but I think the mod made the initial mistake. I’m choosing for you Children of Blood and Bone. I’ve read it and I thinks it’s great that it’s on your TBR. You can choir from Mr romance shelf. I thin I posted it in the original sign up post but I’ll send it straight to you.

139735 My partner was Michelle and she chose Finding Me by Viola Davis. My thoughts I love love love Viola Davis but I’m not a big fan of memoirs. Like most memoirs I’ve read, this one meanders and isn’t super well written. The story of her life is REALLY interesting but I never think that I need to know that much about anyone. She’s an amazing actor and a beautiful representative of herself and many Black women but she did not convince me that memoirs are a good idea. Not her fault, just not a fan of the genre.

139735 Completion Post Letter C
City of Orange by David Yoon

Okay I was all in at the beginning of this book. An apocalyptic nightmare of sorts where the main character can’t remember his own name or how the world got that way. Interesting characters are developed along the way, but the story goes super sideways and kinda dumb at the end. I think I gave it 2 stars because I tend to be generous.

139735 Completion Post Letter I I'll Be You by Janelle Brown

Interesting book about identical twins. Keeps your attention, somewhat predictable and happy ending. Easy read and entertaining. I may have given it 4 stars, but I tend to be very generous. It's probably more of a 3

I love your notes on this book. Hilarious!! I've been listening to Finding Me and there seem to be some comparisons there. I didn't know that we were writing about our books so I'll definitely go back and do that.

139735 Hi Michelle,

I am not a big fan of memoirs in general, but I am interested in Viola Davis's memoir. I'll be a better partner next month hopefully, where you could choose for me.
