I posted a review for Victoria's War and used the word Nazi throughout the review because that's what it was all about...what the Nazis were doing during the Holocaust. I had to change every single Nazi to "German bad guys" despite the synopsis using the word Nazi.

The book eventually gets [published in all countries so the more exposure your review gets, the better, I would think.
I was having so much trouble with the old format for reviews but since it's changed, all my B&N reviews have gone through (knock on wood). If I get a book from NetGalley, I always include the NetGalley disclaimer on my reviews, on both the B&N and Amazon sites and they've taken them. Hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that. These things seems so fickle 🤣

Ditto what others said, no matter how long I've had a book, I acknowledge the publisher, NG, EW, author, whoever provided the book to me.

Sarah wrote: "Yeah the only two I’ve received so far weren’t read now or auto approvals. I like when the publisher's preferences are well defined so I know if I should even request from them (I don't have a blog).
I do get books from Crown and St Martins has been extremely generous with their books to me even though I know some people have trouble getting books from them. I've read on here that St Martins doesn't auto approve but I don't remember where I read it.
I've gotten these also and if it doesn't say Read Now, I do not assume that they will automatically approve me. I hate rejection 😂so don't like to ask for something unless I really, really want it and am willing to take the chance I might not be approved. Sometimes these promotions do come as Read Now and even then I don't always take them, if I'm not really interested in the book.

Glad I could help! And I didn't realize there was an "Approval Preferences" at first either, which meant I requested ARCs from a few publishers who's preferences I didn't meet...I had the same reaction you had. But now I know to look there and don't request from publishers that want us to have blogs and such.
BUT, I did get over my confusion about Edelweiss and that site, with the same publishers, will approve books for me that wouldn't be approved from NG, because I don't meet the publisher requirement on NG. So you might look into EW eventually, although it took me a while to figure it out. 😊
Neyjour wrote: "Hi all. :)I was looking at a publisher's Approval Preferences (for a book I was approved for) and this is stated:

The publisher wants you to post the review between May 26 - June 24. Some publishers will ask you not to post the review any sooner than 2 weeks before the book is published. For a long time after I started doing reviews, I never got any requests not to post before a certain date but now I get so many ARCs that I end up with quite a few requests to post within certain parameters and I follow what the publisher asks me to do.
Some publishers won't keep approving books to reviewers who ignore the instructions so it's a good idea to follow them. You will still see reviews for the book outside the dates that publishers ask you to review the book. Maybe they didn't get the same instructions as you did...I just don't know.
The words are confusing but I do think you can substitute the word "sooner" for "more" and it sounds more understandable.

For some reason Berkeley only gives me ARCs..."From what I can tell, you get free books by purchasing books but I don't think they are offering Advanced Read Copies. At least I couldn't find a way to get ARCs...I was just there looking around. 😊
I write "thank you to (whoever I got the book from such as the publisher) and (NG or EW or whoever) for this ARC" and none of my reviews have gotten rejected with that statement. Amazon seems to encourage us to follow authors but sometimes I hesitate to do so if they are then going to accuse me of having a "connection" with the author.
