Hi Tina, I've been away from things for a little while, but to answer your question, YES, I was let down by the solution to the death. While I enjoyed the story, the ending was not so satisfactory. Perhaps the author didn't want to end a Christmas party with a nastier solution.

Yes,I got the book. Why don't you all start and I will join in, if I can.

I'm overwhelmed with reading at the moment and can't start something else so quickly. GO ahead if you have enough people...

Tina, My guess is that mother and Winthrop (Winfield?, whatever) will continue to the next book.
I have to admit I was surprised when the book was finished. I was reading it on my Kindle and I thought I was about 60% through the book when all of a sudden the recipes showed up! I'm all for recipes, as you know, but nearly half the book?

Nearly out of this section. A mystery seems to be solved, but is it? Regarding the Norman and Mike relationship, I suspect that there is more fire with Mike, but more security with Norman. Not sure were THAT is going, but it will depend on what Hannah needs, I expect.
I'm not sure what to say about the book. It certainly reads quickly and I am looking forward to what happens next. And I like that Hannah is doing some real detection. However, the whole murder (which you should have found out about in chapter 9) is now not holding my interest. And frankly, I'm still having issue with who all the characters are...

Chapter 9 has the crime! Stay with us!

Got my book yesterday!

And, according to the little sister, Mom is "making a play for him," hence Mom's shoes. Its been a very busy weekend and no further reading done, but that will change...

Sent my address to her just now. What a great treat!

Thank you Cleo, for coming to our little discussion group! I really enjoyed the book (as you probably noted from my posts!)

I am much of the way through this first section. Waiting for a murder to happen. I suspect it might be the glamorous second wife of whats-his-name. (Honestly, I am reading pretty carefully, but there are so many characters, I can't remember all of the names.) I think the woman is Brandy-wyne? Anyway, Hannah has a couple of boyfriends a whole gaggle of siblings, in-laws, niece and one on the way, and a mother. Perhaps it would have been helpful to have read the many earlier books in this series!
And yes, "hot brownies" for someone you are trying to get to like you is a very stupid thing to do.

If you know what Mexican Teacakes are, Cashew Snowballs are similar only with cashews. Covered in powdered sugar.

I made Cashew Snowballs, Italian Christmas Cookies and Gingersnaps so far this year. I am usually farther along than this, though.
Also, ready to start a discussion when our hostess(es) are!

I got my copy of the Sugar Cookie Murders and just started reading. Anyone else ready?

Well, I finished the book last night and have to say it was very satisfying. The clues all made sense; the plot and culprit were believable, the characters distinctive and the action continual. I see that this is the 12th book in the series--how did I miss this?
As Tina at least knows, I am an enthusiastic cook and baker and so I also enjoyed the recipe-laden back-of-the-book (and the role of the baked goods throughout.) I just went to the coffeehouse website and downloaded the chocolate cookie recipe. While I am well known for my cookies, my chocolate chip never seem to end up the way I want them to. This recipe has some interesting variations that I will try out.
And to top it all off, our author and her husband are both from the Pittsburgh area, where I currently live (hence the "pgh" in my screen persona.
The only thing I wince to report about the whole thing is that I simply do not like or drink coffee. Period.
I'll be anxious to discuss the ending when more people get to this point...

I'll try to get a copy of the Sugar Cookie thing soon as well. Thing is, I think I may have it already...

I am nearly finished with the book, about chapter 57 or so. I really wanted to finished last night but didn't have the strength to lift up my eyelids any longer...
Someone is now STRONGLY indicated, but I am still anticipating a twist!

I am on chapter 50-something or so. I am really enjoying this. It's been awhile since I almost literally didn't want to put the book down. The action is fast and furious!

Spoilers:
Yes, I think the Nick thing is too pat right now. I think it will be someone closer to home.

Happy to see Cleo on this page. I'm enjoying the book a great deal!
