Okay, let’s talk favorite tropes 🤭 Please share yours! I want spice, I want angst, I want a plot that emotionally mauls me, all told in first person so I can spiral right along with the characters. Everyone’s got their own taste and these are just a few of mine:
- ”Touch her and die”, because nothing says romance like a little possessive murder energy 😮💨
- Why choose / Reverse harem, because honestly, why should she choose? Sharing is caring🤷♀️
- Forced proximity, aka: “there’s only one bed” and we all know where that’s going 🤭
- Enemies to lovers, because apparently I enjoy tension, verbal sparring, and near-death foreplay 👀
- He falls first, because watching a man internally combust while pretending he’s unaffected? Art 🤌🏼
- Masked men and stalker vibes because anonymity and danger are a strangely effective combination🫣
- Morally grey anti-heroes, because I can fix him (but I also kinda don’t want to). Make them possessive and obsessive 🤌🏼
- Kidnapping, only when it’s unhinged but somehow still romantic, don’t ask, I don’t make the rules🤫
- Hates everyone but her, because who doesn’t want to be someone’s only exception?👏
- Jealousy meltdown, he sees one guy look at her and suddenly it’s a homicide risk 💋
- Protective violence and protector complex, when “don’t touch her” turns into “guess I’m committing light homicide today.” Love languages: bloodshed and devotion 🙋♀️
- You’re mine” moments, in any way👄
- Marking / claiming, I don’t have to add context to this one🫦
- I don’t know what to call this one but when she wakes up screaming from nightmares and he (or they) come running, shirtless, panicked, and ready to fight whatever 🫶🏻
These are just a few 🤏🏽 I’ve got way too many favorites, but if a book has any of these, I’m in, no questions asked 📖📚
Hi! My name is Linnéa and I’m 25 years old.
I read dark romance but absolutely love dark fantasy romance. I’ve always been drawn to horror and dark themes, and I started reading these genres this year. I’m already at 50 books read so far this year. The most recent book that kept me up all night was The Blackened Blade by Isla Davon. I don’t know anyone who even likes to read, and I’d love to have others to talk to who share the same hobby.
