Favourite Classic Doctor is The Fourth, favourite story right now would be "Robots of Death" but it changes regularly! Last month I loved Caves of Androzani!
Favourite monsters have always been the Daleks.

Hyperion - Dan Simmons.
A truly stunning sci-fi book written in the form of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales". Simmons is one of the few Sci-Fi writers whose literary ability could cross any boundary (Iain Banks is another).
