1275816 I think the most reliable knowledge is knowledge that’s well rounded and well informed. For anything that we learn or convert to knowledge we want to go beyond our own biases, and often times if it’s shared knowledge with those around us that knowledge can still hold the same biases, so I think the best thing we can do for knowledge is ensure it’s well rounded.

1275816 I think this is a hard question to answer because while some influencers promote superficial values others promote the exact opposite. I think it drastically varies by what type of content they post but also what the viewer is defining as a superficial value.

1275816 I think in some ways yes and some ways no. Technology has made it a lot easier to meet new people and engage with others who don’t live near you but I do think that technology has impacted the way we interact with those who live close to us. Sometimes it’s easier to check in with a friend over text and stay updated in peoples lives that way but, in my opinion, nothing beats grabbing a cup of coffee together and having that face to face interaction. In terms of reading I do think technology has made it hard to immerse yourself in reading. I see all the time that people sit down to read and then end up scrolling for hours instead. Or when they’re reading constantly posting updates on their thoughts in the book and that, to me, doesn’t feel as immersive as reading without technology.
Question 2 (6 new)

1275816 I don’t think parents should necessarily have a say but I do think they should be able to voice concerns if they have any. Perhaps once they voice a concern then that book gets reviewed by the librarian, principal, etc. And it can be determined if that book is age appropriate. I also think libraries, specifically elementary and middle school librairies, should do a better job of ensuring the library only has age appropriate books and that students should only be able to check those out. Outside libraries do exist and it’s a lot easier for parents to monitor what gets checked out at outside libraries so there’s not really a reason for schools to carry books that are primarily smut - which I know is a concern for many parents.

1275816 Hello, I’m Kendall and I’m from Seattle! I love reading fantasy and romance but will pretty much dabble in anything. My favorite reading buddy is my Husky named Aspen and my go to reading snack is sparkling water and strawberries. I’m also a writer and am currently working on a book of poetry and a romance book!
