I think it's awesome that we are getting so many suggestions. It's a lot easier to find great books when everyone pitches in.

There are a few other KJ Charles freebies in the Audible Plus catalog, so I'm going to work my way through them next year.

I figured it out! I am so relieved. Things like that bug me. hahaha

(view spoiler)[ Chapter 1 starts off with "6 months ago". Chapter 2 starts off with "Present day". So the flight without the gear happened in the past (repeat of last book Claire) and that chapter only serves to highlight Matt & Dylan's relationship. Chapter 2 starts the current story with Matt out on an assignment like usual, this time in Reno. We don't know how he got to Reno but presumably drove and took his gear with him. (hide spoiler)]

Relief. Mystery solved.

Oh and I finished yesterday. Lovely ending.

I'm listening to this one. It started off with Matt (view spoiler)[ needing to fly out of town early in the morning or late at night. Dyl offered to drive him to the airport but Matt said he'd catch an Uber. So he didn't take his car. He couldn't take his weapons kit on the plane. He enjoyed the unusual business class flight. Then the next chapter Dylan tries to reach him and the hospital doctor answers. There's a time gap between Matt on the plane and Matt in the hospital. So far, no explanation of how or where he got new (missing) equipment for his new job or where he got a car. It's like a whole chapter is missing. (hide spoiler)] But I'm not finished listening yet.

I don't remember that from the previous book. Then again, I would only normally remember the main story, not the details. LOL!

I almost used it for the best cover art, but it was really a beautiful love story so it went into CR instead.

What? No. It was in the first couple of chapters of this one. Then we cut to the (view spoiler)[ emergency, Matt in the hospital (hide spoiler)] scene.

I totally agree about this. There was some sort of time jump between one chapter and the next. It's been bugging me like crazy.

I wanted to catch up on the Dead Serious series, but I downloaded the audio from Hoopla and it turned out to be JL narrating. Nope, not doing that.

I'm pretty exclusively listening nowadays. When I try to read, I get a couple of pages in and get antsy to go do something. My PMC isn't out on audio so I'm hoping Alexa will read it to me. LOL
