
I edit work until I stop seeing errors and I'm happy with it. That often takes time because after a while you stop "reading" your own work and you scan it, because you've seen it so many times your brain automatically fills it in and skips over. You speed read. One of the most egregious examples of this was the very first sentence of Screw the Galaxy had a typo for probably six months and I didn't notice it.

Editing the 2nd book in the Hard Luck Hank series. Though editing is (more than) half the battle. The character preview from the original artist Tariq Raheem is up and I've sent him my corrections.
