I am in discussion about doing a film on it and wondered if it would suit Indian tastes especially, the concept of divorce which seems so alien to the India i knew when I left in 1992. Also was unsure whether the porn stars involvement would need to be changed even though there is nothing explicit. Thanks
The situation in Dogboy v Catfish is a little more complicated. Dogboy marries Catfish who is a single mother with a child. As the child's biological father is deceased, Dogboy has taken over the role of guardian by default. Many of you have pointed out correctly the laws are biased towards the welfare of the child. In Australia 18 months in a defacto relationship is all it takes for 50 - 50 claim. It would be impossible for the step father to claim custody of a child from her biological mother and hence he would have to pay maintenance till the child turns 18. So Dogboy would be up for 70% or so in a separation after 18 months.
Now a question for you. If you were to cast Katherine 'Catfish' Fisher as an Indian actress who is an ex-supermodel and single mother in her mid 30s who lives in Australia and then married Dogboy, which actress would you short list for the role? Would it work for the Indian market? or would you cast a Hollywood actress and if so who?
