The North American nation of Panem was divided into thirteen districts. Each district specialized in a different industry. All were governed by the Capitol.

the capitol: the capitol of Panem was a technologically advanced, metropolitan area. The nation's most rich and powerful people lived within the Capitol.

i. district one: district one is the wealthiest district in Panem. the primary industry is luxury items. they are part of the districts known as the careers, due to their training for the hunger games from a young age - they have been known to win the most often.

ii. district two: district two is one of the wealthiest districts in Panem. their primary industry is stone quarries and masonry. however, their secondary industry is the recruitment and training of peacekeepers, the capitol's enforcement agency. they are also part of the careers.

iii. district three: district three is known for their technology, manufacturing televisions and computers.

iv. district four: district four is also one of the wealthiest districts in panem. their primary industry is fishing. they are the final addition to the careers.

v. district five: district five's industry is power and electricity. they supply the entire nation with power.

vi. district six: district six's industry is transportation.

vii. district seven: large parts of the region are swathed with trees because their primary industry is lumbar and paper creation.

viii. district eight: district eight's primary industry is textile production. at least one factory is specifically for the creation of peacekeeper's uniforms.

ix. district nine: district nine's primary industry is grain production.

x. district ten: district ten's primary industry is livestock, providing meat to the Capitol.

xi. district eleven: district eleven's primary industry is agriculture, providing the nation with food.

xii. district twelve: district twelve is the smallest and poorest district. district twelve's primary industry is coal mining and medicine (added after the second rebellion). the district was rebuilt and repopulated after the rebellion subsided.

xiii. district thirteen: district thirteen was widely said to have been destroyed during the first rebellion, but has came to light that it was still alive and thriving. while their primary industry was initially graphite mining, it is now nuclear science and war tactics. ever since katniss everdeen was defeated, thirteen's children have been involved in the games.
