121177 My goal is to read 65 books this year. I'm going to try to start with my "To Be Read" pile.

121177 I'm currently reading The Lady in the Tower by Alison Weir and Murder in the Queen's Garden by Amanda Carmack. I am also listening to To Shield the Queen by Fiona Buckley.

I am sorry that you have had issues picking up your prize at the Russell Memorial Library. Unfortunately, Russell Memorial Library did not receive book participation prizes until the week of December 30th. Library customers were allowed to choose an item from the Friends of the Library Book Sale shelf for their prize if the other books were not available.

If you have not chosen your participation prize yet, please stop by the information desk at the Russell Memorial Library. Participation prizes will be available until January 23rd.

121177 I think I'll read Free for All: Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library (020.92) by Don Borchert for this month's Dewey Challenge.

121177 I'll be there too. Although, like Ann, I'm not sure what to bring.

I just finished listening to Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. I can't wait to listen to the third installment in the series.

I think the short chapters make me want to keep reading. I keep saying to myself, "Just one more chapter." I have been enjoying the Coffehouse Mystery Series for a while and I always enjoy being back at the Village Blend.

121177 This week I'm reading Once Upon a Grind by Cleo Coyle. I've been enjoying the Coffeehouse Mystery series for the last few years. I am enjoying the current installment, but the chapters seem a bit short.

I think you will enjoy it. I had to make myself put the book down at night.

121177 Egg hunting in tricked out DeLorean.

I'm still reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I'm enjoying this fast-paced gamer adventure.

I had to take a break to read First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen. It was great to be back in Bascom, NC with the Waverly family for a bit. My six words for First Frost are:

121177 I'm currently reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I am enjoying the references to 1980s pop culture and the fast pace.

I received my hold for Station Eleven. This one looks interesting, but I may hold off on reading it until I'm finished with Ready Player One.

121177 My plan for this year is to write more reviews for the books that I read and listen to this year.

Thanks for the website suggestion, Ann!

I am definitely looking forward to reading Murder on Amsterdam Avenue by Victoria Thompson.

121177 I am thankful for books! I had similar experiences as child to Liz. I was shy and quiet, but books gave me a place to escape where I could be the brave, outgoing heroine.

I just finished reading Birth House by Ami McKay and I am currently listening to Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. I just picked up The Midwife of Hope River at the library and I am looking forward to reading it during lunch.

I'm still working on Outlander, and I feel like I've been at it for months, even though it's only been 3 1/2 weeks or so."

Keep at it, Liz! I listened to Outlander on audio and it seemed like it took forever to get through it.

Liz, this The Cuckoo's Calling has been on my to-read list for a while. I just placed a hold on the Overdrive audio book.

I have to agree with Pattie. I really enjoy the genre challenges - even though I try to combine them with a mystery ;-).

Some of my suggestions are:
Read a YA book
Read a book from a series
Read a popular nonfiction book

121177 My favorite science fiction author is Octavia E. Butler. I enjoy reading her books because she features people of color and women as her protagonists. Her stories are often intriguing and sometimes disturbing.

121177 I think I will read Unexpected Stories by Octavia Butler for this month's challenge. I purchased the book for my Kindle a couple of months ago, but I haven't gotten around to reading it.
