šø Investigation: Juliette St. Clair
Julietteās account went dark the morning after the murder.
No stories. No posts. No selfies.
When asked why, she just scoffed and said, āEven I have limits.ā
But itās what she didnāt say that raised suspicions.
š£ļø Interrogation Snippet:
āJavier was an ass,ā Juliette snaps. āEveryone knows that. He hit on me three times before dinner and told me Camila was āfragileāālike she wasnāt even real.ā
She sighs, rubbing her temples. āYeah, I was near the pool. We argued. He said he saw one of my livestreams and it āmade him look bad.ā Whatever that means. I left before things got worse.ā
Then she looks up, dead serious. āYou should check his phone. He had secrets. Trust me.ā
šTasks:
1. Read a book featuring drama or rivalry
2. Read a book with a morally grey character
3. Read a book where technology or social media plays a role in the plot
Elf MageYou are graceful and intelligent, with a knack for seeing what others miss.
Advantage: āArcane Wisdomā ā Once, you can ask the DM (me) for a hint about an upcoming prompt before you commit to a path.
šø Investigation: Theo Zhang
Theoās magic show has been cancelled.
Guests are saying itās āout of respectāābut some say the real reason is darker.
He didnāt seem shocked when Javier died. In fact⦠he didnāt seem shocked by anything.
And someone found a list in his cabin. A list with seven names. One of them now crossed out.
š£ļø Interrogation Snippet:
āMagic is just misdirection,ā Theo says, slowly shuffling a deck of cards. āBut murder? Thatās personal.ā
He smiles. āJavier thought he was clever. Said heād figured out what I was really doing on this ship. Said he was going to warn someone.ā
He places a card on the table. Itās the King of Hearts. āMaybe he shouldāve worried about himself instead.ā
šTasks:
1. Read a book with a manipulative or mysterious male character
2. Read a book involving a list, secret plan, or conspiracy
3. Read a book with a ācat-and-mouseā feel between characters
šø Investigation: Lana Murphy
Lana was working the night of the murderājust like every other night.
She says it was a normal shift: drinks, flirting, drama.
But thereās something about the way she talks⦠like sheās filtering every word.
Sheās not afraid of muchābut this time, she looks nervous.
Like she knows too much.
š£ļø Interrogation Snippet:
āJavier was on his usual nonsense,ā Lana says, stacking glasses. āFlashing that fake charm. Asking questions he had no business asking.ā
She leans closer. āHe was digging. About Priya. About Elias. Even about Theo. Said something about āfiguring it out.ā I told him to shut up and enjoy his overpriced whiskey.ā
Her jaw tightens. āBut he didnāt shut up. He went to the upper deck after midnight. Thatās the last time I saw him.ā
šTasks:
1. Read a book with a character who knows everyoneās business
2. Read a book with late-night scenes or secrets revealed after dark
3. Read a book where a character might be lying by omission

šø Investigation: Captain Elias Monroe
Captain Monroe runs a tight shipāuntil now.
He hasnāt spoken to the press or the guests, except to assure them everything is āunder control.ā
But in private, heās been reviewing footage, crew reports⦠and quietly asking his own questions.
Heās more involved than he lets on.
And maybe more connected to the victim than anyone expected.
š£ļø Interrogation Snippet:
āI donāt care what the passengers thinkāthis is my ship,ā Elias says, voice cold. āAnd I take it personally when someone ends up dead in my pool.ā
He glances at the security log. āJavier had a run-in with crew on Day Two. Something about access to a restricted hallway. I reprimanded him, but he just laughed it off.ā
Then: āBetween you and me⦠he threatened to file a complaint. Said he knew things about our hiring process. I figured it was hot air. Now? Iām not so sure.ā
šTasks:
1. Read a book featuring a ship, cruise, or isolated setting
2. Read a book where someone is hiding something behind professionalism
3. Read a book where a character breaks the rules
