Greetings, Unfortunately, I am not that far in the book yet, so I do not have the context behind that quote. However, my answer to this question is that despite our seemingly advanced reasoning, animal instincts have proven themselves to be less fallible under general circumstances than consciousness. When you consider how these "instincts" have came about, you will be weighing your answer against millions of years of trial-and-error. Eventually, this process of evolution will produce something that is truly remarkable, which is "animal instinct".
We are going to start this book effective 3/17/24. Reading about 30 pages a week, but it is okay if you fall behind. Feel free to leave comments about anything you find interesting in the book.
